THE SPIRIT WORLD 100

Dear gravel riders, soul surfers & anyone who uses the bike to escape time…

We are Heidi Rentz & Zander Ault

We’re co-creators, gravel cyclists, chefs & party animals. We’re so freaking excited to see you in Patagonia, Arizona for a gravel road race that has inspired every aspect of our lives.

The Spirit World 100 is a down home gravel road expedition that has been in creation for 4 years. We’ve been exploring the outer reaches of our abilities to be spirited entrepreneurs in an attempt to bring something from another universe to the event scene. Our main goal is to connect more people through our contagious love for riding bikes, cooking and throwing a mean party. Now, we just need all you special humans to bring your creative and powerful energy to the desert southwest.

The Spirit World 100 and 50-mile course options are 2 of our most coveted and adored gravel routes in southern Arizona. Each course option is a reflection of the thousands of hours we’ve spent soaring through the San Rafael Valley since 2015. In order to showcase one of the Nations best remote and purely quiet destinations, we have partnered with the Town of Patagonia to invite riders and their families to the high desert. Obsessed with the landscape of the borderlands region, we’ve studied the maps of this area and are working closely with regional government, land management and private entities to make this place more accessible for the entire gravel cycling community. We want to help redefine the future of outdoor recreational tourism in the greater Tucson and borderlands region of The Copper State and The Spirit World 100 will be a key player in this mission.

If we said this wasn’t a race, we’d just sound ridiculous. Any time you place 100’s of riders on the start line, it’s a race! This race is a place to find the answer to why challenging ourselves in unfamiliar conditions is so sought after. We’re only human and we were put on this earth to move, sweat, be affected and feel the power of confidence that our raw and natural surroundings can instill. The Spirit World 100 is a celebration of exactly what you’re searching for every time you jump on your bike. You’re welcomed in, wholeheartedly.

Tucson, Arizona is our home. When we aren’t there, we’re hosting private gravel and road cycling camps around the globe. For sometime now, we’ve wanted to create an event that everybody felt comfortable committing to. Cycling camps aren’t for everybody. They may never meet your personal schedule or provide enough of what you’re looking for in a vacation. The Spirit World 100 has been designed to deliver fun, challenge and growth oriented human interaction over the course of 4 days. We couldn’t be more excited to show you Patagonia, Arizona and the San Rafael Valley. See you in The Spirit World!

Third Thursdays- Transit Rides to Dragoon Brewing Company

Come out with your favorite bike! Meet at The MSA Annex at 530p and grab a pre-ride bev at Westbound. Stop in the shop to say hi and psych up the crew. Around 6:00p we’ll take a leisurely cruise over to Dragoon where the beers are fresh and so are the bartenders! Your first beer (n/a or 0.0%) is a buck! Bring a helmet, lights, water and cash. Food trucks might be on-site.

24 Hours In the Old Pueblo

Celebrating 24 years of riding single track in the Sonoran Desert, the TMC Health 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo is one of the largest 24 Hour events in the world. Ride the event the mountain bike community has been raving about for years!

Join Epic Rides at the #24HOP as we host participants, volunteers, and sponsors for an event experience over a Government Issued Holiday Weekend (Presidents’ Day).

With mid-day highs of 70 degrees, mellow Sonoran Desert vibes, an industry bike + gear expo, and 24 hours of tunes provided by 91.3 KXCI Community Radio this festival is far more than just a 24-Hour mountain bike event.

Outside Magazine did a cool video after 2023 24 HOP.  https://www.pinkbike.com/news/video-party-in-the-pueblo.html

The Business Builder Bike Ride Celebrates year 6

For 6 years the Business Builder Bike Ride has met monthly to network, build businesses, ride mountain bikes and drink beer.  April 27th at 4PM is the anniversary ride at Sweetwater Preserve Trailhead.

This ride is the brainchild of two of the most creative and professional businessmen in Tucson, Matt and Brandon Blair from Cirrus Visual Communication. Some people just have it all together.  From family, business, fitness, friends, community involvement and everything else they are a part of.  I have seen many rides start and fail, but this ride just gets better and bigger each month.

Links to 36 plus photo albums from 6 years of Business Builder Bike rides are at the bottom of this page.

The BBBR is a monthly gathering and alternates between Sweetwater Preserve and Fantasy Island.   The format is to do a quick pre-ride meet and greet.  This is limited mostly to who you are and what you do professionally.  Then we get on our bikes and ride.  Post ride beer, hangin’ out trail side, and a call for any upcoming events that we are working on.

This is how Cirrus Visual describes the BBBR.  “If you haven’t heard about this event, think of it as business networking on your bike. Some people do business on the golf course…we love to ride our mountain bikes, and know there are other business professionals like us.

Whether you like to ride fast, or are just venturing into the dirt, all riding levels are welcome! Just bring your bike, helmet and business cards, and we’ll bring the post-ride refreshments. Join us this month and bring a friend – new riders are what keep this event growing!”

Personally, this is one of my favorite rides based on the location, people, scenery, networking and beer.  If you want to go really fast, there is still someone faster.  If you are affectionately known as “the turtle” you will not be left out on the trail by yourself.  Since we start and stop in the same place and the trails we use have extra loops for those who want extra credit everyone can get in the ride they want and still not feel like they are being left out or left behind.  Also, beer, FREE beer (usually)  hoppily greets you at the end of the ride.  So you ask,  Is this really networking or just an excuse to cut out of work, ride bikes and drink beer?   I have now helped 9 friends buy or sell their homes as a direct result of this ride, but you should join us and decide for yourself.
