Volunteering at the Tucson Bicycle Classic

Volunteering at the Race

Volunteers are what makes events happen…

In the words of David Burke “I’m either racing or volunteering”  Be like David.

Putting on something like the Tucson Bicycle Classic requires many volunteers that are excited to help the community and fellow racers. A stage race like the TBC simply cannot happen without your help. Thank you for volunteering.

Ride List for April 15-21 2017

This weekend is one of my favorite events of the year. The El Grupo Scavenger Hunt is a super fun, challenging yet a family-friendly event. You bring your bike (and friends!). El Grupo will give you a map of the downtown area. On the back you will find 10 riddles to solve and 10 objects to find. You will race, ride or gallop (at your chosen pace!) within a 3 mile radius of downtown searching for the objects, tackling feats of strength and stupidity, and learning about obscure parts in downtown Tucson you never knew existed!  There is no better way of discovering the community than this ride. Enjoy coffee and treats from Beyond Bread while you get ready to rid as well as adult drinks from Catalina Brewing Company and lunch included in registration. There will also be a raffle with prizes from awesome local businesses! And there is a 100% chance that everyone’s favorite community photographer will be there to catch you in all the silliness.

April is BikeFest. Living Street Alliance has a calendar of events at https://www.bikefesttucson.com/events/2017-04/  Events range from skill classes, mechanic workshops, bike in movies, brewery rides and more.

This list is a major time commitment and it is my pleasure to put it together.  All I ask in return for the list is that you remember I’m A REALTOR.  If you have a relationship with another REALTOR, I love loyalty and respect those relationships.  However, if not, or if you need a second opinion, Please keep me in mind.  Many agents spend money advertising for new business, others sit open houses or cold call.  My business is based on referrals from past clients and friends.  The less time I have to do traditional prospecting the more I can do for the cycling community.  For example: this list.

Ride on,

Damion

I DID NOT CONFIRM EVERY TIME, but did get in touch with most of the ride leaders and shops.  You should always verify times before you head out and remember these ride times are when the ride leaves.  Please show up as early as needed to make sure you are ready to roll out at the time posted.

RIDE AND EVENT DISCLAIMER

These rides are not mine.  I am only sharing the data.  The Damion Alexander Team  cannot guarantee anybody’s safety.  There are unknown and unforeseen potential hazards in every ride so you should  pay attention and take reasonable precautions.  I always use a helmet.  I think that Helmets are required when riding.  If you choose to listen to music during rides you should only use the headset in the right ear and keep the headset out of the left ear. Better yet, buy a FarEnd Gear earbud.  Communication is essential during all rides and having the ability to hear is a part of your responsibility to others.  Please also ride within your limitations. You are  not racing the Tour de France.  If you see someone  that is  not riding within their limitations or are becoming a hazard to others we should politely bring this to their your attention  Dothis for your and everybody’s safety.

Also, it is everybody’s responsibility to follow all traffic laws.  We are not lemmings.  Just because somebody does something foolish does not mean you need to follow.  Use your head and enjoy your ride.

THE DAMION ALEXANDER TEAM, DAMION ALEXANDER, AND ANYONE ELSE WHO CONTRIBUTES TO THIS LIST SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIM RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY ACCIDENT OR INJURY THAT OCCURS ON THSES RIDES.  EVERY PERSON IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS AROUND THEM

WHERE DO ALL THE RIDES COME FROM?  These links and shops and clubs and teams and facebook and YOU.  See a ride that is missing.  Please let me know  Damion@DamionAlexadner.com.  Thanks

Happy New Year.  If your resolution was to ride more miles in 2017 this list of rides will help keep you on track.

If you know anyone who would like to receive the list, please feel free to send them my way.  Damion@DamionAlexander.com

I’ve been really busy working on the distracted driving summit at the State Capital in Phoenix on the 25th.  We need to have a GIGANTIC turn out so the state can see how important safety is.  There will be a ride from Tempe to the Capital that morning. Please share the event and do what you can to make it!

Thanks

THIS LIST IS PROVIDED AT A COURTESY OF THE DAMION ALEXANDER TEAM.  THIS LIST IS DEEMED RELIABLE, BUT NOT GUARANTEED.  WHEN POSSIBLE, CONTACT INFORMATION FOR THE GROUP RIDERS ARE PROVIDED.  TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND DOUBLE CHECK OR GO TO THE RIDE AND IF NO ONE IS THERE, GO RIDE BY YOURSELF.

We are almost there.  The grand daddy of Tucson Rides.  Over 8000 riders will be taking over the streets of Tucson next weekend for the Tucson Medical Center 34th El Tour de Tucson presented by Casino del Sol.  For many, it’s a good week to taper.  For others, like me, it might be about time to start training;-)

I’d like to THANK all who have donated to my ride for a child as well as everyone who has been riding for the other 60 beneficiaries of El Tour.  I’ve been thinking that next year I’d like to ride for each and every one of them. It fuels my soul seeing so many help others doing what they love.  Truly a win/win.  There is still time to donate if you want to give and I’m only $300 away from my goal.  Click Here to donate.

There are many activities that surround the El Tour Super Week, beginning one week prior to ride day, includes a 2-day El Tour Bike, Fitness & Health EXPO, El Tour Orientation Meetings, a Rusing, Lopez & Lizardi El Tour Dedication Dinner at Casino del Sol and an 8-day Indoor El Tour program.

Ride day begins with the Rio Nuevo 104-mile Main Event followed by the 76-Mile El Tour, the 54-Mile El Tour, the 40-Mile El Tour, the Town of Marana 28-Mile El Tour as well as the Tucson Medical Center El Tour Fun Ride presented by McDonald’s.  Tune into the Cenpatico Integrated Care Ride Day Radio Show on ESPN Tucson for up-to-the-minute coverage of the front runners as well as interviews and updates from the remote starts. The HSL Properties Downtown Fiesta with kids activities, music, a Michelob ULTRA Garden, food, massages and an on-going Grand Cycling Awards Ceremony round out the day.

Community Ride list for March 19-26

This weekend is the 30th Tucson Bicycle Classic.  I see how much work goes into making events like this happen.  A HUGE thanks to the staff,  volunteers and sponsors who make it all happen.

I’m proud to see The Damion Alexander Team on the logo soup supporting racing and cyclist in Southern Arizona and knowing I’m doing a small part to keep this event alive and thriving.

I’ll have lots of images from the weekend and will share them both on BikePilgrim.com as well as on The Damion Alexander Team on Facebook.

Ride on,

Damion

I tried to verify all these, but did get in touch with some of the ride leaders and shops.  You should always verify times before you head out and remember these ride times are when the ride leaves.  Please show up as early as needed to make sure you are ready to roll out at the time posted.

Community Bike Ride List January 30- February 5

Are you interested in a Ride for Reading Event?  It would include collecting and delivering books on bikes to local elementary schools.

The list keeps growing each week.   This weekend has some great racing with the UA Biopark blast crit and Oracle Road race.  On the MTB side there is a party at 24 Hour town by SDMB with a BBQ and Catalina Brewing Company Beer plus trail work on Sunday getting ready for the big dance in two weeks.  Both GABA and Cactus cycling have rides every day from beginners on  up.

Want to make sure you never miss a ride  You can also find it on BikePilgrim.com.    Please feel free to share the list and if you have a friend who would like to be ——————————————————————————————————————–

Ride on,

Damion

Thanks

TBC Circuit Race Part one.

Lets get this party started.  The early start.  There are nearly 2000 images to get through from the circuit race.  Today I need to prospect for new business for my real estate team.  However, I’d rather save the time and focus on the photos, for you.  So, send me a referral today and I can justify rocking through all the images.  Otherwise, I’m going to need to focus on my real job and leave the hobby for next week.

These photos are a major time commitment and it is my pleasure to take the photos and share them with you. All I ask in return for the photos is that you remember I’m A REALTOR. For example: these photo albums. THANKS!!!

Community Bike Ride List January 23-29

Since I am just re-sharing information here, I am torn between putting the ride list out earlier, but missing many rides or waiting until late on Friday when all of the weekend rides are posted.  What do you think?  Better to wait or should I send it out incomplete on Thursday or Friday Morning?

This list is a major time commitment and it is my pleasure to put it together.  All I ask in return for the list is that you remember I’m A REALTOR.  If you have a relationship with another REALTOR, I love loyalty and respect those relationships.  However, if not, or if you need a second opinion, Please keep me in mind.  Many agents spend money advertising for new business, others sit open houses or cold call.  My business is based on referrals from past clients and friends.  The less time I have to do traditional prospecting the more I can do for the cycling community.  For example: this list.

Ride on,

Community Ride list January 16-23, 2015

It’s that time of the year that we have rides almost every day of the week.  The race season is also starting to gear up.  I put in considerable time this week tracking down many of the races, both on the road and in the dirt.  The real challenge is going to be what race or ride to choose as so many are on the same day.

I hope to see you out on your bikes.  Make sure to smile, I’ll likely be taking your picture and posting them on The Damion Alexander Team on Facebook.

Thanks
