SUMMARY:Arizona Track Championships
DESCRIPTION:For the first time\, the Arizona Track Championships are coming to the new Tucson Velodrome\, September 12–13\, 2026. This is a pretty big deal for Arizona cycling. After years of Arizona riders having to travel to California to compete for track state championships\, we finally have a velodrome of our own and a championship weekend right here in Tucson. \nThe two-day event will showcase just about everything that makes track racing so much fun to watch and race. Saturday is all about speed against the clock\, with the Flying 200\, 500m and 1km time trials\, individual pursuits from 2km to 4km\, and Team Time Trials. Sunday brings riders together for Scratch Races for men\, women\, masters and juniors\, followed by the Team Sprint. Categories range from juniors as young as nine through masters racers 75+\, giving generations of Arizona cyclists an opportunity to race on their home track. \nRacing starts at 7:00 a.m. both days\, with the track open for warm-up and rider check-in from 6:00–7:00 a.m. Arizona championship eligibility requires Arizona residency and a current annual USA Cycling license. Races are $15 each\, with online registration required. \nMore than another race weekend\, this feels like a milestone for cycling in Arizona. We finally have a velodrome\, and now we finally get to host our own state track championships at home. Even if you have never raced on a track\, this is a great weekend to come out\, cheer on Arizona’s riders and experience an entirely different kind of bicycle racing.

SUMMARY:Mt. Graham- State Hill Climb Championships
DESCRIPTION:The Mt. Graham Hill Climb is one of Arizona’s classic tests on two wheels and the Arizona State Hill Climb Championship. Starting outside Safford\, the race heads straight up the Swift Trail into the Pinaleño Mountains\, trading Sonoran Desert for pine forest and cool mountain air as the road climbs higher and higher. \nAnd when we say climb\, we mean climb. The full course is roughly 20 miles with about 5\,700 feet of elevation gain\, making Mt. Graham one of the biggest sustained road climbs in Arizona. Shorter 10-mile categories are offered for some age and masters divisions. \nThis isn’t a ride where you’re wondering when the next hill starts. The hill is the ride. Pace yourself\, settle into a rhythm\, enjoy the changing landscape and try to remember to look around occasionally as you climb thousands of feet above the desert floor. \nFor racers\, there are Arizona State Championship titles on the line. For everyone else\, there is the satisfaction of reaching the top of one of the most formidable paved climbs in the Southwest. \n20 miles. 5\,700 feet of climbing. One very large mountain. \nSeptember 20\, 2026 | Safford\, Arizona\n47th Annual Mt. Graham Hill Climb
