SUMMARY:Arizona Trail Race
DESCRIPTION:Racing the Arizona Trail\n\n\n\n\n\nThe AZT300 & AZT800 will start concurrently at border monument 103\, the rider limit is 60 total riders. \nPlease check the Announcements page https://azt300-800.com/announcements/ for any last minute updates\, registration & important information. \nSuggested Start Date: Thursday October 16th\, 2025. *ITTs are always encouraged!!\n(3rd Thursday in October each year) *Registration opens one month prior to the Grand Depart\nChoose your poison: 300 miles / 800 miles\n800 Start: 6:00am Mexican Border monument 103.\n300 Start: 6:00am Mexican Border monument 103.\nRider limit: 60 people\, combined\, in both events\nNo entry fee\, no prizes\, absolutely no support \n\nTiger Mine trailhead near Oracle\n\nThe Arizona Trail Race is an unofficial challenge that takes place every autumn on the cross state Arizona Trail. Two distances are available. The Arizona Trail 300 is a 300 mile event that has been held every April since 2006. The Arizona Trail Race 800 is the complete traversal (Mexico->Utah) and was offered for the first time in 2010 as the AZTR750. Both events are run concurrently\, starting on the same day\, same time from border monument 103. \nThis is not an organized or sanctioned event in any way. It’s simply a group of friends out to ride their bikes on the same route at the same time. We’ll probably compare times afterwards\, but more importantly\, we’ll compare experiences — the highs and lows the trail and mountains offered us. \nAll we provide is a route\, a suggested start time(*) and tabulation of results. Period. There is no race organization\, no checkpoints\, no support system\, nothing. You are completely on your own\, just as you would be if you chose to ride the Arizona Trail\, or any other trail\, on any other day. \n(*) Anyone is welcome to ride the route at any time. We provide a suggested start date if you want others to ride with/against. ITTs (individual time trials) are encouraged and will be ranked with that year’s results. \nIf you want to be included in the “results” you need to follow the rules of self-supported travel set on the rules page\, ITT riders included. This means things like support crews and water caches are not allowed. This is done in order to ensure a level playing field. \nMartinez Canyon\nSPOT Tracking\nEach year the race is tracked by trackleaders.com\, providing a live map\, elevation profile and other stats that can be used to follow along. Carrying a SPOT and being tracked by trackleaders is not mandatory but encouraged. \nSupport the Trail\nThere is no entry fee\, and no registration\, but all racers are strongly encouraged to join the Arizona Trail Association. Please help support the organization that has worked so hard to construct\, maintain and promote this amazing trail across the state. \nMembership is only $35. To join\, go here: \nhttp://www.aztrail.org/membership/join.html \nContact\nPlease consider posting your questions to bikepacking.net’s Ultra Forum. There is a yearly forum thread there with common questions asked and answered. There’s a helpful community of AZT riders that can help\, and that way your questions (and answers) can help others with the same questions. Also the AZTR Director will post updates and last minute info there in the weeks leading up to the start. \nQuestions?? SUMMARY:Dirty Bunny
DESCRIPTION:drinking’ of the greatest events of all time. The Dirty Bunny is everything good about Mountain Biking all distilled into an incredible weekend. It’s a drinking ride with a bike problem. It is a race. It is timed. There are winners. But if that is all you care about\, it might not be the event for you (but it might). It’s about the community. Gathering with like minded people in the desert and having a great time. There is drinking and other mind altering good times (riding bikes can take you to magical and mysterious places). People dress in costumes. Some even wear spandex. \nIn many ways it is 24 hours in the Old Pueblo for the locals\, but with a small entry fee of $10 to cover incidentals and a 6 pack of craft beer. That is CRAFT beer with an F. Not any of that F’ing CRAP beer. Don’t be showing up with your PBR for the entry fee… but feel free to bring your bud light\, PBR or  dos equis for the lush bunny. What’s the lush Bunny you ask? Why that would be the same race\, but with the consumption of a can of piss water each lap. \nSo\, if you think you are one of the The cool cats\, The in crowd\, Those in the Knows\, this might be the event for you. \nA few videos from past events to give you a vibe. \nhttps://www.facebook.com/damion.alexander.9/videos/2069049946801997 \nhttps://www.facebook.com/damion.alexander.9/videos/196962712478668

SUMMARY:Picketpost Punisher - Arizona Endurance Series
DESCRIPTION:Picketpost Punisher\n\n \nWhen:\nNovember 15\, 2025\nThe B (49 miles) and C (22 miles) routes will start at 7:30am. The A route (76 miles) will start at 5am. \nWhere:\nYou will  start at the Picketpost trail head off of Route 60 near Superior\, Arizona. This is about 60 miles east of Phoenix and about 5 miles west of Superior. If you pass the Boyce Thompson Arboretum\, you’ve missed the trailhead turnoff. You can get directions to the start here. \nThe trailhead has pit toilets\, but no water. Also no trash receptacles – pack it in\, pack it out. \nCamping is NOT allowed at the trailhead. There are however\,  a bunch of places to primitive camp beside the road that leads to the trailhead. \nWhat:\nThe Punisher will once again be split into 3 different lengths so that you can choose the amount of punishment you deserve. Make sure you review the GPS files. \nThe C ride will be the shortest AES ride ever. A measly 22 miles and about 2300 feet of climbing. In place of FR4\, you’ll get to ride new trails in Arnett Canyon. The route will climb on dirt roads part of the way up Montana Mountain. The descent back down will be on the Arizona Trail back to the Picketpost trailhead. Easy peasy. \nThe B ride is heading south this year. It is actually a subset of one of the previous year’s A route – without crossing the Gila River. You will head south on the Arizona Trail to FR4\, then turn south on FR4 (it is not closed in this area). You’ll climb up on the ever lovely Telegraph Canyon road\, then down\, past Ajax Mine to Box Canyon. There will be a hard left to get you over to Martinez Canyon. After traversing the “brass knuckles” you’ll end up at the Gila River not far from the Arizona Trail. Filter water at the river\, then head north to the AZT – all the way back to Picket Post. \nThe B ride has an opportunity for a time bonus. You’ll notice a little additional part of the route in Box Canyon. This goes to a section where the canyon gets very narrow – really cool to see. This is an out and back of about 3.75 miles. Do this and take a selfie. Your selfie\, along with your GPS track\, will get you an hour deducted from overall time. \nThe A ride (aka: The Pulverizer) will be the same stroll in the park as last year. You’ll begin by heading south on AZT down to the Gila River. You’ll cross the river (good chance to filter water) and start climbing to Florence-Kelvin Highway. You’ll then bomb down that dirt road all the way to Kelvin Bridge. From there it is AZT all the way back to the start. \nREAD THIS IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT DOING THE A RIDE:\nThe A ride is a seriously difficult ride. It is only for very experienced and capable back country endurance cyclists.  One of your sources of water is the Gila River – and that needs to be filtered. If you cannot meet the following criteria\, don’t even bother: \n1. You must have a GPS and know how to use it. There are no trail signs and it will be very easy to get lost.\n3. You need to be prepared to be on your bike for 10-15 hours or more. Some VERY fast folks have done this in 10 hours. Expect it to take longer for most everyone else. \n4. You must have lights and be comfortable with riding at night in challenging terrain.\nWater:\nIn a race of this length and remoteness\, water is a concern. Bring as much as you can! We’ve done some scouting and found some possible and some dependable water sources. Water sources are marked (as waypoints) on the GPS files. \nRoute:\nIt is HIGHLY recommended that you bring\, and know how to use\, a GPS for this race. The Legends of Superior section has lots of areas where it is easy to miss the trail and get off course. Using a GPS and paying attention are the best ways to stay on course and not get lost. GPS files for all three courses can be obtained at the links below.\nPPP_C_route\nPPP_B_route(punisher)\nPPP_A_route(pulverizer)
