SUMMARY:Nogales Bicycle Classic - Road Race State Championships
DESCRIPTION:Nogales Bicycle Classic\nOctober 17\, 2026 | Nogales\, Arizona \nThere are plenty of organized rides where the attraction is the distance or the challenge. The Nogales Bicycle Classic offers something a little different: a chance to experience a part of Southern Arizona that many people have driven through\, but relatively few have explored from the seat of a bicycle. \nNow in its 14th year\, the Nogales Bicycle Classic combines rolling terrain\, wide-open views\, Southern Arizona history and the unique culture of one of Arizona’s great border communities. \nAnd don’t let the word “Classic” fool you. There is plenty of climbing out there. \nA Different Side of Southern Arizona\nNogales sits in some of the most beautiful country in Southern Arizona. This isn’t the classic Tucson landscape of saguaros and sprawling desert. \nHere\, the elevation is higher\, the terrain rolls\, grasslands stretch toward distant mountains and the roads take you through a landscape shaped by ranching\, history and generations of people moving between Arizona and Mexico. \nOctober is also a pretty great time to experience it from a bicycle. \nThe Nogales Bicycle Classic offers multiple distances for different abilities\, whether you’re looking for a challenging day in the saddle or simply want to get out\, ride and experience someplace new. \nThis is a ride where looking up from your handlebars is highly encouraged. \nMore Than a Bike Ride\nPart of what makes the Nogales Bicycle Classic special is Nogales itself. \nThis is a community with a culture and identity unlike anywhere else in Arizona. The influences of Mexico and the United States aren’t separated neatly by a line on a map. Food\, families\, history\, language\, business and traditions have crossed that border for generations. \nThe Bicycle Classic gives riders another way to experience that community. \nCome down for the ride\, but don’t be in too much of a hurry to leave when you’re finished. Explore Nogales\, find something good to eat and make the bicycle ride part of a day discovering a corner of Arizona you may not know nearly as well as you think. \nRide With a Purpose\nThe Nogales Bicycle Classic is also a community event with a purpose. Proceeds help support local causes\, allowing a day spent riding your bicycle to have an impact long after everyone crosses the finish line. \nThat combination of cycling\, community and giving back is a big part of what makes smaller regional rides like this worth supporting. \nYou don’t need thousands of riders or a giant expo to create a great cycling event. Sometimes you need a beautiful route\, a welcoming community and a few hundred people who believe spending an October morning exploring Southern Arizona by bicycle sounds like a pretty good idea. \nWorth the Drive South\nIf most of your Southern Arizona riding happens around Tucson\, Oro Valley or the Catalina Mountains\, put the Nogales Bicycle Classic on your calendar and point the car south. \nBring your bike. Bring some friends. Expect some hills. \nAnd give yourself enough time afterward to enjoy Nogales. \nRide someplace different. Experience a border community from the seat of a bicycle. And discover another beautiful corner of Southern Arizona. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n74 Miles\n\n\n\n\n\nUSAC\, Gran Fondo \nStart Time: 8:00-8:05 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n62 Miles\n\n\n\n\n\nUSAC\, Gran Fondo\nStart Time: 9:00-9:10 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n40 Miles\n\n\n\n\n\nUSAC\, Gran Fondo \nStart Time: 8:20-8:30 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n20 Miles\n\n\n\n\n\nGran Fondo \nStart Time: 9:15 Bicycle Classic

SUMMARY:El Grupo Fall Fondo
DESCRIPTION:The El Grupo Fall Fondo is more than a bike ride. It is a celebration of El Grupo Youth Cycling and one of the best opportunities of the year to ride with and support the next generation of Tucson cyclists. \nChoose from 35\, 50\, or 75-mile routes through Tucson\, then return to the El Grupo Clubhouse for the real heart of the event: food\, drinks\, music\, an auction\, and a chance to hang out with El Grupo riders\, coaches\, families\, and supporters. \nThis is a fundraiser\, not a race. Proceeds support El Grupo Youth Cycling and its work using bicycles to help young people build confidence\, skills\, friendships\, and independence while making cycling accessible regardless of a family’s ability to pay. \nIf you love Tucson’s cycling community\, this is an important one to support. Come for a great ride and leave knowing your miles are helping put more Tucson kids on bikes. \nhttps://www.kgun9.com/news/community-inspired-journalism/midtown-news/el-grupo-youth-cycling-hosts-fall-fondo-fundraiser-in-midtown?fbclid=IwY2xjawTvQGdwZG9mBWV4dG4DYWVtAjExAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR5RC3XawhwaAbeJgFvQotHIartRmxKMoXkffVR1Y5p3adGPPkFjRDPicArmuQ_aem_-RYZ56duzC6z0D-bEo-jyw \n  \n

SUMMARY:Picketpost Punisher - Arizona Endurance Series
DESCRIPTION:Picketpost Punisher\n\n \nWhen:\nNovember 15\, 2025\nThe B (49 miles) and C (22 miles) routes will start at 7:30am. The A route (76 miles) will start at 5am. \nWhere:\nYou will  start at the Picketpost trail head off of Route 60 near Superior\, Arizona. This is about 60 miles east of Phoenix and about 5 miles west of Superior. If you pass the Boyce Thompson Arboretum\, you’ve missed the trailhead turnoff. You can get directions to the start here. \nThe trailhead has pit toilets\, but no water. Also no trash receptacles – pack it in\, pack it out. \nCamping is NOT allowed at the trailhead. There are however\,  a bunch of places to primitive camp beside the road that leads to the trailhead. \nWhat:\nThe Punisher will once again be split into 3 different lengths so that you can choose the amount of punishment you deserve. Make sure you review the GPS files. \nThe C ride will be the shortest AES ride ever. A measly 22 miles and about 2300 feet of climbing. In place of FR4\, you’ll get to ride new trails in Arnett Canyon. The route will climb on dirt roads part of the way up Montana Mountain. The descent back down will be on the Arizona Trail back to the Picketpost trailhead. Easy peasy. \nThe B ride is heading south this year. It is actually a subset of one of the previous year’s A route – without crossing the Gila River. You will head south on the Arizona Trail to FR4\, then turn south on FR4 (it is not closed in this area). You’ll climb up on the ever lovely Telegraph Canyon road\, then down\, past Ajax Mine to Box Canyon. There will be a hard left to get you over to Martinez Canyon. After traversing the “brass knuckles” you’ll end up at the Gila River not far from the Arizona Trail. Filter water at the river\, then head north to the AZT – all the way back to Picket Post. \nThe B ride has an opportunity for a time bonus. You’ll notice a little additional part of the route in Box Canyon. This goes to a section where the canyon gets very narrow – really cool to see. This is an out and back of about 3.75 miles. Do this and take a selfie. Your selfie\, along with your GPS track\, will get you an hour deducted from overall time. \nThe A ride (aka: The Pulverizer) will be the same stroll in the park as last year. You’ll begin by heading south on AZT down to the Gila River. You’ll cross the river (good chance to filter water) and start climbing to Florence-Kelvin Highway. You’ll then bomb down that dirt road all the way to Kelvin Bridge. From there it is AZT all the way back to the start. \nREAD THIS IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT DOING THE A RIDE:\nThe A ride is a seriously difficult ride. It is only for very experienced and capable back country endurance cyclists.  One of your sources of water is the Gila River – and that needs to be filtered. If you cannot meet the following criteria\, don’t even bother: \n1. You must have a GPS and know how to use it. There are no trail signs and it will be very easy to get lost.\n3. You need to be prepared to be on your bike for 10-15 hours or more. Some VERY fast folks have done this in 10 hours. Expect it to take longer for most everyone else. \n4. You must have lights and be comfortable with riding at night in challenging terrain.\nWater:\nIn a race of this length and remoteness\, water is a concern. Bring as much as you can! We’ve done some scouting and found some possible and some dependable water sources. Water sources are marked (as waypoints) on the GPS files. \nRoute:\nIt is HIGHLY recommended that you bring\, and know how to use\, a GPS for this race. The Legends of Superior section has lots of areas where it is easy to miss the trail and get off course. Using a GPS and paying attention are the best ways to stay on course and not get lost. GPS files for all three courses can be obtained at the links below.\nPPP_C_route\nPPP_B_route(punisher)\nPPP_A_route(pulverizer)

SUMMARY:Borderland Gravel
DESCRIPTION:BorderLands Gravel is much more than a gravel race. Set in the wide-open landscape of Douglas and Cochise County\, the event celebrates adventure\, cycling culture\, community\, and the unique character of Arizona’s borderlands. \nRiders can choose from 92\, 65\, or 39-mile gravel courses\, with an E-Bike division on the 39-mile route. Younger riders receive reduced registration fees\, and a special 65-mile collegiate category helps make the event accessible to the next generation of cyclists. \nOne of the most distinctive parts of the weekend is the free Bi-National International Parade Lap. Riders cross the international border into Agua Prieta\, Mexico\, ride through the community\, and return across the border to Douglas before the gravel races begin. Special discounted registration is also offered to residents of Mexico\, reinforcing the event’s goal of bringing communities on both sides of the border together. \nFor those who would rather participate without a bicycle\, BorderLands also offers a 3K Run/Walk\, making the weekend accessible to friends\, families\, and community members. \nWhat really separates BorderLands Gravel is its sense of place. The routes showcase the history\, landscape\, and rugged beauty of the Apacheria region while introducing riders to a part of southeastern Arizona many have never experienced from the saddle. \nThe organizers describe their goal as creating an experience that brings smiles to riders\, volunteers\, families\, visitors\, and the surrounding communities. Just as importantly\, they want the event to leave Douglas\, Cochise County\, and the Borderlands better than they found them. \n2026 Events \n\nLong Course: 92 miles\nMedium Course: 65 miles\nCollegiate Course: 65 miles\nShort Course: 39 miles\nE-Bike Course: 39 miles\nInternational Parade Lap: Bi-National ride through Douglas and Agua Prieta\n3K Run/Walk: Community event for runners and walkers\n\nWhy ride it: Come for the gravel\, but expect to remember the landscape\, the people\, and the unusual experience of a cycling event built around two neighboring communities and one shared borderland. \nBorderLands Gravel LONG Course 8:00 AM 92 miles 150 $120.26\nParticipants younger than 20 at the end of 2026 pay $60.13\n(under 20) $60.13\nBorderLands Gravel MEDIUM Course 8:05 AM 65 miles $120.26\nParticipants younger than 20 at the end of 2026 pay $60.13\n(under 20) $60.13\nCollegiate Cyclists (MEDIUM Course) 8:05 AM 65 miles $54\nBorderLands Gravel SHORT Course 8:10 AM 39 miles $105.26\nParticipants younger than 20 at the end of 2026 pay $52.63\n(under 20) $52.63\nBorderLands Gravel “E-BIKE” 8:30 AM 39 miles $105.26\nAll “E-Bike riders” – NO Mechanical support will be provided throughout the entire event!
