DESCRIPTION:The largest bicycle swap in the southwest\, GABA’s Bike Swap in Tucson attracts over 5\,000 attendees and more than 40 vendors bi-annually. This Swap Meet will be held at EL CON CENTER NE Corner Parking Lot\, 3601 E. Broadway\, easily accessible via Dodge Blvd. \nSupport the Swap Meet by volunteering for two hours by clicking Volunteer Opportunities. \nVENDORS\, Please Use the Vendors Registration Button off to the right (or click HERE). Spaces are assigned by the event coordinator based on the number of spaces available and the event history. The coordinator also gives consideration based on when you register\, so register early to get the best space. See the map below to locate spaces that will best display your goods. Don’t worry about being a member of GABA or not\, and go ahead and use the default non-member options while registering. While in the future I may put a price break in for members\, you are not required to be a member and there is no discount for being one. \nIf you are a vendor that collects tax from your store outside the City of Tucson\, please note that new rules have forced me to register and give out your business information to the city. Please help me determine this by indicating you’re a business on the registration page. The City will contact you with regards to a temporary vendor permit which is $25\, and they may collect tax from your sales. More information is HERE. We will be treated to views of four different mountain ranges as well as the Tucson skyline along the way. \nThis ride will start near Ren Coffee House in St. Phillips Plaza. \nAs a GABA Training ride\, stops will be about every ten miles for a few minutes. If you are further off the pace than that allows\, you may navigate to the coffee shop or finish. This ride is about gaining some fitness\, and of course spending time with new and old friends. \nNotes:\nStart Time: Arrive by 7:45 AM for sign-in\, meeting others\, and overview. Wheels rolling by 8:00 AM.\nFinal rolling average- 17+ mph. Day 1 will be in Amado or Tubac depending on your taste($$$$) and availability. Day #2 will take in 2 of Southern Arizona Lakes. More beautiful scenery and yes climbing! Night #2 is in Nogales at Mariposa center with several hotel options. Day #3 will be heading back to Tucson with a lot of flat!! A ride through the mines in Green Valley and of course finish it off with San Xavier Mission. See you at the Casino for lunch!!! It takes us through Elgin wine country east of Sonoita\, past cattle ranches\, to the lush Canelo Valley\, and finally to Paker Canyon Lake. We will enjoy spectacular views of the grasslands\, the Mustang Mountains\, and the Huachuca Mountains. \nOnce at the lake we will take a leisurely break for refreshments. There is a convenience store there where you may buy snacks and water. If the weather allows\, we will have lunch on the patio of Copper Brothel after the ride. \nThis ride features endless rolling hills and 4\,000 feet of climbing! It is not easy. There are no support services on the route so bring enough water for at least three hours and extra tubes. \n“Off The Grid” rides are intended to get you out of the Metro area and try something new. As a GABA Training ride\, regroupings may be as much as ten miles apart and only for a few minutes. DESCRIPTION:Details\n\n\nRide Description:\nThis EPIC tour around the Tucson area takes us from the Camino del Cerro ball fields to Green Valley via bike paths and Mission Rd. Along the way we will see some impressive copper mines\, pecan groves\, and very few cars. While in Green Valley we will refuel at Posada Coffee. \nFrom Green Valley we will head east up Sahuarita Rd\, and north on Wilmot to The Loop for the final 33 miles. Usually we will have the wind at our backs for much of this section\, and of course it is gradually downhill. \nPlease note that this ride is UNSUPPORTED and limited to 10 riders. We will make use of public bathrooms\, convenience stores\, and coffee shops. DESCRIPTION:Details\n\n\nRide Description:\nThis scenic ride includes a loop around Saguaro East National Park\, a trip along the Rincon Mountain Range\, and the gradual 8-mile climb up Pistol Hill. This time we will be doing the lollipop counter-clockwise. \nWe will depart from our usual spot on Nexis and travel down the bike path to Kenyon and join Old Spanish Trail. After the loop at SNPE we will continue south on Old Spanish Trail to reach Pistol Hill. \nWe will regroup about every ten miles for about five minutes. This ride is about gaining some fitness\, and of course spending time with new and old friends. After climbing along Harshaw Creek we will cross the stunning San Rafael Valley\, and climb over rugged Canelo Pass. \nWe will return on hilly pavement through “The Grasslands” to the Vaughn Loop and Papago Springs Rd. When we finally hit pavement we will roll downhill three miles into Sonoita. The last ten miles of this route are new. \nIn total this route is over 33 miles of gravel\, 22 miles of pavement\, and 3\,000 ft. of climbing. It is challenging and requires intermediate+ skills. \nPLEASE READ: This ride is NOT suitable for mountain bikes due significant road riding. Gravel bikes only please. It is also not suitable for Novice gravel riders. This week we will go to Margies Kitchen after the ride. \nPlease review the route before the ride Start and load the route into your bicycle computer or your smart phone or print a copy of the cue sheet.\nTo participate in this GABA group ride you MUST: \n\nBe willing to ride at a social pace (end of ride social pace 13-15 MPH).\nBe willing to serve as the ride sweep for a portion of the ride.\nUse the phrase “walker/bike up” when overtaking someone.\nUse the phrase “walker/bike left” when approaching someone coming at us. This should be used when on narrow parts of multiuse paths.\nStay right of the center line on multiuse paths and right of the white line while on the road except to pass.\nGive at least 3 feet when passing someone walking or riding in the same direction.\nIMPORTANT: If you have not ridden with Wayne within the last 12 months\, please send your contact information (Name\, phone number\, emergency contact\, emergency contact phone number (NOT 911) to Wayne at wayne.cullop@gmail.com. DESCRIPTION:Details\n\n\nRide Description:\nThis ride takes us from Pousada Java in Green Valley to the Tubac Deli which offers some of the best baked goods in southern Arizona. We will mostly be using frontage roads and will make last minute modifications to accommodate the ever changing Border Patrol checkpoints. \nThere will be time in Tubac to wader around and take in some of the sights. Upon our return to Green Valley we can have lunch on the patio of Pousada Java. Normally we have a tailwind on the return. Fingers crossed! \nAs a GABA trainibb ride\, the only regrouping will be at the Tubac Deli. \nAdditonal Notes:\nRide Type: Training\nPace: Final rolling average 15-17 mph.\nTerrain: Just gradual hills\nTotal Elevation Gain: 1500 ft.\nTraffic: Frontage roads with some vehicles moving at up to 60 mph.\nStart Time: Arrive by 7:45 AM for sign-in and route rap.
