It is a celebration of El Grupo Youth Cycling and one of the best opportunities of the year to ride with and support the next generation of Tucson cyclists. \nChoose from 35\, 50\, or 75-mile routes through Tucson\, then return to the El Grupo Clubhouse for the real heart of the event: food\, drinks\, music\, an auction\, and a chance to hang out with El Grupo riders\, coaches\, families\, and supporters. \nThis is a fundraiser\, not a race. Proceeds support El Grupo Youth Cycling and its work using bicycles to help young people build confidence\, skills\, friendships\, and independence while making cycling accessible regardless of a family’s ability to pay. \nIf you love Tucson’s cycling community\, this is an important one to support. DESCRIPTION:TMC Health 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo\nCelebrating 27 years of riding singletrack in the Sonoran Desert\, the TMC Health 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo is one of the largest 24-hour mountain bike events in the world. But calling it a mountain bike race doesn’t quite explain it. \nIt’s really a party in the desert with a biking problem. \nEvery Presidents’ Day weekend\, thousands of mountain bikers\, friends\, families\, volunteers and assorted desert characters create a temporary city north of Tucson for one unforgettable weekend. \nYes\, there’s a 24-hour mountain bike race. Solo riders and teams take turns riding a fast and fun Sonoran Desert singletrack course continuously from noon Saturday until noon Sunday. But what happens between laps is every bit as much a part of the experience. \nThere are elaborate camps\, costumes that range from clever to completely ridiculous\, decorated bikes\, music\, campfires\, food\, an industry bike and gear expo and plenty of people who seem to have forgotten there is actually a race going on. \nThe exchange tent becomes the center of the universe as teammates wait for riders to finish their laps. During the day\, the desert can deliver perfect 70-degree February weather. After sunset\, lights begin winding across the desert as riders disappear into the darkness for another lap. Through it all\, 91.3 KXCI Community Radio provides the soundtrack for 24 straight hours. \nAnd then there are the costumes. At Old Pueblo\, Lycra is merely a suggestion. You may find yourself sharing the trail with superheroes\, animals\, tutus\, wigs and costumes that become increasingly difficult to explain as the night goes on. Taking the event seriously and not taking yourself too seriously coexist perfectly here. \nThat’s what makes 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo different. You can come to race for the podium\, challenge yourself to ride solo for 24 hours\, put together a team of friends\, volunteer\, camp or simply experience one of the great gatherings of the mountain bike community. \nThe bicycles may be the excuse\, but the people\, costumes\, music\, camping\, desert and community are what make Old Pueblo legendary. \nCome for the mountain biking. DESCRIPTION:El Tour de Zona\nApril 22–25\, 2027 | Sierra Vista\, Bisbee & Tombstone\, Arizona \nIf El Tour de Tucson is the big ride\, El Tour de Zona is the cycling vacation. \nThree days of riding. Three Southern Arizona destinations. Live music\, food\, beer and wine gardens\, camping and plenty of time to sit around afterward talking about the day’s ride. \nAnd perhaps best of all\, nobody is in much of a hurry. \nEl Tour de Zona isn’t about a finishing time or chasing a podium. It’s a fully supported\, multi-day cycling tour designed around something that sometimes gets lost when we start putting numbers on bicycles: \nRiding a bike is supposed to be fun. \nThree Days\, Three Very Different Rides\nVeterans Memorial Park in Sierra Vista becomes home base for the weekend. Set up your tent or RV\, stay at a nearby hotel and then head out each morning for a different Southern Arizona adventure. \nThe first day’s ride stays closer to Sierra Vista with a beautiful trip toward Ramsey Canyon\, historically around 27 miles. It’s a great opening day and leaves plenty of time and energy for the festivities back at camp. \nDay two is the big one: approximately 63 miles from Sierra Vista to Bisbee and back. There is some real climbing involved\, but the reward is riding into one of Arizona’s most colorful and wonderfully eccentric little towns. \nThen on Sunday\, point the bike toward the Old West for roughly 36 miles from Sierra Vista to Tombstone and back. \nYes\, you really do get to ride your bicycle to The Town Too Tough to Die. \nThree rides. Three completely different experiences. And you unpack your suitcase only once. \nThe Riding Is Only Half the Fun\nThis is where Zona really separates itself from a traditional cycling event. \nWhen you get back to Sierra Vista\, the day isn’t over. \nVeterans Memorial Park turns into Zona Town\, with live music\, food trucks\, local craft beer and wine\, entertainment and riders hanging out together after a day on the road. \nCamp right there and your bike ride basically ends at the party. \nThere are also showers and swimming available at The Cove\, which becomes considerably more appealing after spending several hours riding through Cochise County. \nIt feels less like returning to the finish line and more like coming back to summer camp for cyclists. \nBring the Family\nZona is also particularly accommodating for families and non-riders. \nYou don’t have to ride every mile\, or even ride at all\, to enjoy the weekend. There are youth and non-rider registrations\, and riders can historically register for individual days rather than committing to the entire tour. \nThat makes Zona a great introduction to a multi-day cycling event. One person can ride long\, another can choose a shorter day\, and someone else can skip the bike entirely and meet everyone afterward. \nThe point isn’t proving how tough you are. \nThe point is spending a few days outside\, riding bikes and enjoying Southern Arizona with people you like. \nDiscover Cochise County From a Bicycle\nThere is also something special about experiencing this part of Arizona at bicycle speed. \nThe mountains surrounding Sierra Vista\, the climb toward Bisbee\, the streets and architecture of Bisbee itself\, and the history of Tombstone all become part of the ride rather than simply places you pass through in a car. \nAnd unlike Tucson’s Sonoran Desert landscape\, southeastern Arizona has its own personality\, with higher elevations\, grasslands\, mountain ranges and enormous views. \nYou aren’t riding through one destination. \nThe ride connects the destinations. \nA Cycling Vacation on Wheels\nThat’s probably the best way to describe El Tour de Zona. \nWake up. Have breakfast. Get on your bike. \nRide somewhere interesting. \nCome back. Take a shower. Find some food and a cold beverage. Listen to live music. Tell increasingly exaggerated stories about what happened on the ride. \nGo to sleep. \nThen wake up and do it again. \nThere are harder rides. There are faster races. There are events with bigger crowds. \nBut there aren’t many cycling events where having fun is quite this clearly the point. \nThree days. Three destinations. One bicycle. And absolutely no reason to hurry.
