SUMMARY:Beginner Overnighter to Colossal Cave State Park
DESCRIPTION:***If you would like to join this ride but it is cost prohibitive to do so or if you need to borrow gear to make it happen\, please let us know. \nWe’ll be leaving Campfire Cycling at around 9AM for a +/- 30 mile ride down the loop (Paved bike path) most of the way to Colossal Cave State Park We’ll be staying at a group campground with room for 20 tents. We will also be setting aside a middle meetup option for folks that don’t want to/can’t ride the full 30 miles. \nOn our Community Events/Rides we follow our Campfire Code of Conduct. We strive to create a positive and supportive environment where everyone feels welcome and heard. We don’t assume anyone’s abilities based on outwards appearance. We take responsibility for our actions and words. We respect the land\, it’s original stewards and leave no trace. \nIf this is your first bikepacking trip\, we are here to help. If you like advise on gear need or want any other advice we strongly recommend you stop by with your bike or pack up your bike for the trip and bring it by the shop so we can checkout your setup and make recommendations as needed. Feel free to setup an appointment or just stop on by. \nWhile this is a beginner oriented bikepacking trip\, everyone is welcome. I’m sure all of the newbies will appreciate having experienced campers along for the ride.  It’s a great opportunity to do a shake down run with new gear or a new to you setup as well as sharing experinece\, knowledge and setups. \nThis will be a no drop ride. We ride at a party pace with many stops and chances for regrouping as well as resupply. Campfire Cycling will also always have a mechanic at the back of the ride so no one is left behind in case trouble arises. There is also food available near the camp. \nPlease be prepared with all of your own camping gear\, food and water. This will be semi remote camping without many supplies nearby. Campgound has vault toilets and running water. There are businesses and a grocery store on the route with markets nearby the entrance/exit of the campground. \nProtect the Land we Ride on. For this trip we will have beautiful scenic views of the Santa Rita Mountains who’s unique environment is under threat to some heavy mining. Rosemont Canadian Company want to extract and export copper while dumping tons of wast into a mile wide hole that will seep lots of toxins into our groundwater. The Tohono O’odham Tribe as well as many conservation groups have been fighting this mine and for years. We recommend visiting: The Sky Islands Alliance\, The Calabasas Alliance\, Save the Scenic Santa Ritas. Donate\, show up to events and get involved!

SUMMARY:Sedona Mountain Bike Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Sedona Mountain Bike Festival is a three-day mountain bike celebration that includes a main Expo/Festival\, bike demos\, shuttled rides\, gear vendors\, a beer garden\, great bands\, food trucks\, skills clinics and a whole lotta sweet RED SINGLETRACK! \nWith over 90 vendors there are more demo bikes and more to do than any other bike demo out there. We are always working to make the Sedona Mountain Bike Festival the best event you go to all year. While the core of the event and the vibe will remain the same as previous years\, we do have some tricks up our sleeve for this year. Check back for exciting announcements as we get them. \nThe mountain biking in Sedona is world class. Sedona has over 250 miles of killer singletrack and is a media darling having appeared in magazines countless times in the last few years. Simply put: it’s a bucket list destination and this might just be the best way to come see for yourself. \nWhen is it? \nMarch 8th -10th\, 2024 \nTrail guidelines \nThe trail system within the Red Rock Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest around Sedona\, AZ is one of the most special resources you’ll find anywhere. This is a trail system shared with hikers and equestrians\, and our goal with this festival is to celebrate it appropriately: respect the resource\, respect other trail users and generally leave a great impression of the mountain bike community which means NOT leaving our physical impression!! Everybody be smart\, stay on legal system trails and let’s show the world what the mountain bike vibe is all about!!! \nSee what others are saying \nBeta Mag: “Food trucks\, beer tents and a full line-up of mountain bike films put an exclamation point on the Saturday program at the Sedona Mountain Bike Festival” \nThe Radavist: “The mountain biking in Sedona is exceptional. Full stop. Seemingly endless trail systems spiderweb right out from the center of town\, winding in\, out\, and around…” \nOutside Magazine: “It felt like the festival was making people happier than any new bike\, piece of gear\, or single ride ever could.” \nMTBR: “Great weather\, amazing trails\, and most bikes of any consumer demo event.” \nBike Magazine: “On top of being a demo event\, the Sedona Mountain Bike Festival is a place to walk the gravel and look at what new goodies the exhibiting brands have to offer.” \nVelo News: “A handful of companies got the jump on the rest by announcing their new goodies at the Sedona Mountain Bike Festival in Arizona this past weekend.” \n“Great bike selections and lots of it too! It really rivaled better than dirt demo at Interbike. Music and beer and a good selection of food trucks! Lots of new vendors with great swag giveaways too! Best part is it’s open to the public unlike interbike!” – Facebook Reviewer \n“Great event! Everything was well organized and there were so many demos to choose from. Next year we will spend the weekend!” – Attendee \nMore Press: \n\nVital MTB\nCrankJoy.com\nSedona Monthly\nCover of Flag Live\nOutside Online\nCrankJoy.com\nDirt Rag Magazine\nBike Magazine\nPinkbike.com\n\nWant to see what the vendors look like?  Check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKqNf49ifCg \nAttendee: “The festival was one of the best cycling experiences I’ve had in my life. Chill vibe. Great people. Awesome trails. Bitchen food. Totally affordable. Amazing weather. The only problem is I need to wait until next March to do it again.” \nAttendee: “Awesome festival! The most beautiful and challenging trails I’ve ever been on! Great people\, demos\, beer and music!” \nAttendee: “Great times\, perfect weather\, well supported\, awesome vibe! SUMMARY:OldSkool OG's" 24th Annual Anti-Superbowl ride
DESCRIPTION:It’s that that time of year again where we make our annual pilgrimage to the top of Charouleau Gap. This will be our 24th Super Bowl making the trek to the top.\nThis is an old double track rock crawling dirt road and the saddle is at a whopping 5100mountain bike\nofeet. Most of the road is very steep and it is 2400 vert feet of climbing in 6.5 miles.\nBring tons of water and some good energy snacks from the top. Even if it’s warmer at the bottom when we start it is always chilly at the top so a light extra layer is a wise thing to throw in your pack\, and it will be extra protection for the very hairy very fast decent.\nBe warned this is a very challenging ride with lots of chances for crashes and getting hurt. It is only for people that like pain\, sweat and blood\, kinda like a football player in an NFL Game !

SUMMARY:Tortolita 50 Arizona Endurance Series
DESCRIPTION:Arizona Endurance Series\nPosted on October 20\, 2007 | 4 comments\n\nThe Arizona Endurance Series (AES) consists of a number or grassroots\, endurance races and rides. At the beginning of the year\, the Antelope Peak Challenge will open the series with some little known singletrack near the town of Oracle. We have another Tucson ride\, the Tortilita 50\,  at the beginning of February. Next up is a ride that includes the famed Ripsey ridgeline. This is a great chance to check out a remote and rarely ridden section of the AZT.  In March we will be heading to Red Rock country for the Sedona Big Friggin Loop. Have you ever wanted to explore singletrack in Prescott? Come out to the Prescott Monstercross. We wrap up spring with a ride in the mountains of Flagstaff at the Aspen Asphyxiation. Then we will break until fall. First event of the fall season will be the Tusayan Tussle – up near the Grand Canyon. Then\, a new addition to the calendar – Mogollon Mayhem. Next up is a 4 day stage race –  Coconino 250 .  The year will finish out with the Kentucky Camp\, Picketpost Punisher and\, Pleasantville. \nThere are no fees\, no prizes\, but all attempts will be made to record your finish time in comparison to others. The goal is to finish these challenges while setting your own pace. A start time and route are provided here and it is up to the participant to understand the route\, and also have full responsibility for their navigation and well being. These are not group rides\, although some people might do these as rides with friends or even other riders they meet at the start\, along the route. Since the events are self-supportive\, it should be understood that these are for experienced backcountry cyclists only. If you question your ability to complete such an event\, it is best that you consider another option before trying one of these. Also\, maps\, gps devices\, water filtration units\, and other back country tools are methods to ensure you complete the race. Therefore it is up to you – and you alone – to ensure your safety!! The goal of the Arizona Endurance Series is to promote responsible grassroots endurance mountain biking in Arizona\, and to provide a competitive outlet for the state’s current endurance racers – most of whom currently go out of state to compete. The AES will help train current endurance riders and perhaps enhance success by Arizonans in national events. We recommend that you join the Facebook site for all the updates\, maps\, and questions. So if you have interest\, come on out and join us\, and do your part to contribute to this grassroots effort! Only 74 participants can do the event\, so make sure to sign up on each event page. Also\, if you have any questions\, you can use the comment section below each event.

SUMMARY:Advanced 2 Nighter: Gila River Ramble
DESCRIPTION:***If you would like to join this ride but it is cost or transportation is prohibitive or you cannot afford all the gear\, please let us know. \nAre You Ready for the Adventure?\n*Some details are tentative* \nWe’re really excited for a new to us route and to get our “Spring” bikepacking season rolling. We’ll be heading up toward phoenix to ride Scott Morris’ Gila River Ramble Route (Anything but a ramble\, from what I’ve heard ) it’s 110 miles and 10\,663 feet of climbing (and descending) into pure joy. Keep in mind this will be an extremely challenging route with lots of hike-a-bike\, limited water/resupply and challenging single track terrain. \nThe plan is to meet up and Start at the AZT Parking in Kelvin and then camp somewhere past mile 30 or so on the first day depending on how the wind goes up on the ridges (we might opt to ride a little further down hill to get out of the wind). Second Day we will ride through Superior for a resupply (there is an optional route we will probably include) and then camping somewhere around between mile 75-80. On the third day we will finish back at the trailhead. We will try and collect water as much as we go\, but plan on being able to carry up to 7 liters of water for safety. There will only be food resupply in superior if we plan on using that lollipop extension). \nHere’s what you can anticipate by reading about the route\, as well as read recent comments: Gila River Ramble on Bikepacking.com and from the original route on bikepacking.net. \nThis ride is advanced bike packing with challenging terrain (technical singletrack\, slickrock drops\, fair amount of climbing and low sources of water as well as a possible river forging. We recommend a hardtail mountain bike with big tires or a Full Suspension. \nRide Pace is ride at your own comfortable pace. This is not a race. We generally ride at a party pace with many meetups and stops so we can re-group and enjoy the scenery. Campfire Cycling will always have a mechanic at the back of the ride so no one is “stuck” alone at the back or incase a mechanical issue come up. \nAnticipate Temperatures to range from: 30 degrees (or slightly below) at night to low 70’s during the day. \nWe will be contacting everyone who signs up for the ride to make sure they are prepared for the challenge. Please sign up if you plan on joining us. \nProtect the land/area that we recreate on. For this ride we are very near to Oak Flat (Chi’chil Biłdagoteel). The Apache People and mining activists have fought for over a decade to protect this sacred land from a giant copper mine. You can read more about and it and get involved here. We recommend that everyone make a donation to Protect Oak Flat\, write Congress and Senate and consider getting involved in some capacity. http://apache-stronghold.com/take-action.html. We will be riding through the traditional lands of the Akimel O’odham\,O’odham Jewed\, Western Apache and the ancestral lands of the Hohokam and Sobaipuri

SUMMARY:Aspen Asphyxiation-Arizona Endurance Series
DESCRIPTION:When:\nAt 8:00am on Saturday\, June 1\, 2024 \nWhere:\nStart/End at Fort Tuthill\, big lot next to the Bike Park. \nWhere:\nAspen Asphyxiation is back in 2023 with a new route and new trails. We will start at Fort Tuthill and then shortcut through the city to Elden via Sinclair/AZT. We will then climb up the brand new Lower Brookbank and descend the gnarly Big Band/Afterglow. We will climb Dogfood and fire/flood survivors: AZT and Secret. We will connect via Freidlein Prairie Rd\, Veit Spring Trail and Snowbowl Rd to Aspen Corner. From there it’s a fun descent on AZT and Moto. We will venture into the unknown by means of Hidden Hollow Road\, Mesa Observatory forest service roads and A1 Mountain Rd. We will cross the railroad tracks via an interesting but straightforward solution. Then it’s on to Soggy Bottom Ranch Rd. to uncharted roads all the way to Rogers Lake Connector trail. Good ole FUTS and Soldier trail will take us back to Fort Tuthill. \nWater available for filtering only in Shultz Creek and Roger’s Lake (and a number of small streams which may or may not still be there by next week). \nVERY IMPORTANT: \nStart time and route are provided here and it is up to the participant to understand the route\, and also have full responsibility for their navigation and well being. Since the events are self-supportive\, it should be understood that these are for experienced adult backcountry cyclists only. If you question your ability to complete such an event\, it is best that you consider another option before trying one of these. Also\, maps\, gps devices\, water filtration units\, and other backcountry tools are methods to ensure you complete the race. Therefore it is up to you – and you alone – to ensure your safety!! \nRoute:\nAA_route \nStrava Cue Sheet: \n2023 Cue Sheet
