DESCRIPTION:It’s on the ABRA Schedule. Not able to find any details on line.  If you have some\, please email damion@damionalexander.com and in the subject put “ride List”.  Please and thanks. \nAll I can find is the facebook page \nAnd now for a brief complaint… I’m making this calendar because I love all things bikes and want to make it as easy as possible for you to find likeminded people and events. Promoters of these events have a HUGE marketing problem.  If I know of an event\, it should not take my 15 minutes to track down the info I’m sharing here.  A google search should make the event easy to find\, it should have the web site for the event\, the cost\, the location\, the start time\, and a link to registration. \nthis is the route ; https://www.strava.com/segments/1565617 \nthis is the not so updated facebook page \nhttps://www.facebook.com/SOMOTTVITESSE/

SUMMARY:The Shootout
DESCRIPTION:The Shootout \nThe shootout is the Saturday morning group ride. The ride has groups of about 20 riders in the summer and well over 100 riders in the winter and spring. The terrain is fast and rolling with two sprints and a gas station stop about halfway through. The total distance is just over 70 miles. If you’re looking for extra miles and some real climbing\, watch for the turnoff to Madera Canyon on Duval Mine Road. If you want to take in the same route at a slower pace\, catch the “scootout” or “old man shootout” leaving from the same starting location 15 minutes before the fast ride. \nThe Shootout is one of the best group bike rides in the country according to Bicycling Magazine. It is common to have pro cyclists showing up for this ride and it can be fast. \nCo-founded by Ralph Philips\, the owner of Fair Wheel Bikes\, and University of Arizona student Bob Cook\, an Olympic team member. It is one of the oldest and must do\, bucket list group rides in North America. \nRide times change according to the seasons.   I try an update them here\, but check out  Click Here for Fair Wheels for the latest info \nFair Wheel Bikes is home to some of the top group rides in the country. Fast rides are held every Tuesday and Saturday mornings. In the spring and fall\, both rides are regularly attended by some of the top professional riders from the US and around the world. Rides (times below) start on University of Arizona’s west side at; \nUniversity Avenue and Euclid Avenue. \n \nStart Times\n\n\n\nRIDE TIMES FOR SATURDAY\nShootout (A group)\nScootout / Old Man Shootout (B)\nOld-Old Man Shootout (C)\n\n\nStarting 2nd Saturday of November\n7:30 AM\n7:35 AM\n7:40 AM\n\n\nStarting 1st Saturday of March\n7:00 AM\n7:05 AM\n7:10 AM\n\n\nStarting 1st Saturday of April\n6:30 AM\n6:35 AM\n6:40 AM\n\n\nStarting 3rd Saturday of April\n6:00 AM\n6:05 AM\n6:10 AM\n\n\nStarting 1st Saturday of September\n6:30 AM\n6:35 AM\n6:40 AM\n\n\nStarting 2nd Tuesday of October\n7:00 AM\n7:05 AM\n7:10 AM\n\n\n*TMFR starts the same time as The Shootout (A Group)\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Bike Polo
DESCRIPTION:Bike Polo on The University of Arizona Mall between Cherry and Campbell. \nCycle polo\, bicycle polo\, or bike polo (polo-vélo in French; Radpolo in German) is a team sport similar to traditional polo\, except that iron horses  are used instead of horses. Great for improving bike handling skills. \nTypically\, there are extra mallets if you want to come out and play.  It is recommended to get a front wheel that is designed so a mallet wont get in the spokes.  Often the best material for this is political signs zip ties together. \nVery social group with a high chance of post ride beverages.

DESCRIPTION:Since 1991\, the KHMTT has taken place on Wednesday evenings in Cherry Creek State Park in early spring. \nThe weather is a bit unpredictable (this is Colorado!)\, but that is what makes the KHMTT unique and challenging! \nThe course begins at the edge of the Cherry Creek Reservoir\, winds through the wetlands southeast of the reservoir\, and crosses back and forth the small creeks that supply the water for the reservoir. \nThe KHMTT series is a fundraiser for the Cancer Fitness Institute in memory of Karen Hornbostel\, and Bicycle Colorado. \nKaren Hornbostel was a four-time masters national road champion who battled metastatic breast cancer for over 13 years\, yet courageously pioneered a fitness program for cancer patients that started what is today the Cancer Fitness Institute. Her work is still making a difference today in the quality of the lives of thousands of cancer survivors. \nBicycle Colorado envisions a Colorado where riding a bicycle is always safe and convenient for everyone\, where bicycling is the top choice for recreation and everyday trips\, and where the benefits of bicycling are experienced and valued by all people in our state. \nThe COBRAS and the KHMTT are proud to be able to contribute to these worthwhile organizations.

SUMMARY:GABA Spring Bike Swap
DESCRIPTION:The Spring 2024 Bike Swap\n \n \n  \n \nThe largest bicycle swap in the southwest\, GABA’s Bike Swap in Tucson attracts over 5\,000 attendees and more than 40 vendors bi-annually. This Swap Meet will be held at ARMORY Park\, 6th Avenue and 12th Street. \nVENDORS\, Please Use the Vendors Registration Button off to the right (or click HERE). Spaces are assigned by the event coordinator based on the number of spaces available and the event history. The coordinator also gives consideration based on when you register\, so register early to get the best space. See the map below to locate spaces that will best display your goods. Don’t worry about being a member of GABA or not\, and go ahead and use the default non-member options while registering. While in the future I may put a price break in for members\, you are not required to be a member and there is no discount for being one. \nIf you are a vendor that collects tax from your store outside the City of Tucson\, please note that new rules have forced me to register and give out your business information to the city. Please help me determine this by indicating you’re a business on the registration page. The City will contact you with regards to a temporary vendor permit which is $25\, and they may collect tax from your sales. More information is HERE. If\, for example\, you are selling items out of a garage\, or are registering as an individual for this bike swap\, then you will not be required to register with the city. \nINDIVIDUALS: Individuals this year may register for an individual (single 10×15) space. Click the Vendors Registration button off to the right. \nNote: Don’t be left out if you’re an individual with several items you’d like to sell or swap. Reserve the new standard space today to ensure you have a place at the Spring Bike Swap. \nBUYERS: Come down to see a wide selection of bicycles and bicycle parts from around the southwest. \nI JUST HAVE ONE BIKE I WANT TO SELL: I’ve been here before too. Bring it down\, put a price on it\, walk around and check out other stuff from vendors and other individuals that are trying to sell or swap. \nContacts are Doug Horn (douglas.horn@outlook.com\, (520) 404-1181) \nDisclaimer: Spaces are coordinated and signed up on a first-come\, first serve basis. The organizer has no control if a vehicle has been left over-night and is in your assigned space that morning. The organizer will do his best to give the affected vendor the best space available the morning of the bike swap. \nGABA will provide free spots on the grass along the paved pathways in Armory Park. There are no reservations\, it is entirely first come first served. \nVendors in the park will be required to follow the rules defined in the link below. \nhttps://www.tucsonaz.gov/parks/ParkRules
