DESCRIPTION:ABOUT THE RACE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Pinewood Showdown is Zia Rides’ answer to the question riders had been asking for years: When are you going to put on a gravel event? They waited until they found a location worthy of it\, and the White Mountains of Arizona certainly qualify. \nBased at scenic Wilderness Ranch outside Pinetop-Lakeside and Show Low\, the event sends riders onto the beautiful dirt and gravel roads of Northern Arizona. Choose from approximately 25\, 45\, or 80 miles\, making this a weekend that works for newer gravel riders as well as those looking for a serious day in the saddle. Gravel bikes and mountain bikes are both welcome. \nThis is also much more than showing up\, riding\, and driving home. Courses are well marked with fully supported aid stations\, while Wilderness Ranch becomes the weekend gathering place with camping\, live music at the pavilion\, and plenty of opportunities to hang out with other riders\, friends\, and family. \nBest of all\, you’re escaping the desert heat for a weekend of bikes\, dirt roads\, pine trees\, cool mountain air\, and some of the prettiest country in Arizona. \nA portion of the proceeds also stays in the White Mountains\, benefiting Re in Pinetop. \nGreat gravel. Pine forests. Live music. Camping. Three distances. One very good excuse to spend a weekend riding bikes in Arizona’s White Mountains.

SUMMARY:Chino Grinder
DESCRIPTION:The Chino Grinder is Arizona’s oldest and most iconic gravel grinder and has earned a reputation as one of the toughest gravel races in the West. With routes that are 75–95% unpaved\, this is real Arizona gravel riding: long\, remote stretches of dirt road\, big views and enough climbing and distance to make finishing an accomplishment. \nPart of what makes the Chino Grinder special is where it takes you. The course travels through the high-desert country surrounding Chino Valley and includes sections of historic roads that have been traveled for generations. Riders trade the classic Sonoran Desert landscape of Southern Arizona for wide-open grasslands\, juniper country\, distant mountains and big northern Arizona skies. Depending on where you are on the course\, keep an eye out for pronghorn\, mule deer\, coyotes\, jackrabbits and the many hawks and other birds that thrive in this open country. \nMultiple distances make the Chino Grinder much more than a race for hardcore gravel racers. There are options for different ages and abilities\, whether you’re taking on your first big gravel challenge\, attempting a century\, or lining up to see just how fast you can ride it. Whatever distance you choose\, expect a course where self-sufficiency\, endurance and a willingness to embrace a little suffering are all part of the experience. \nThe start and finish at Chino Valley Community Park also makes this more than just a day on the bike. Grassy fields\, shade and showers create a comfortable home base for riders\, families and spectators\, with a pre- and post-race gathering that adds to the community atmosphere. We’re so freaking excited to see you in Patagonia\, Arizona for a gravel road race that has inspired every aspect of our lives.   \nThe Spirit World 100 is a down home gravel road expedition that has been in creation for 4 years. We’ve been exploring the outer reaches of our abilities to be spirited entrepreneurs in an attempt to bring something from another universe to the event scene. Our main goal is to connect more people through our contagious love for riding bikes\, cooking and throwing a mean party. Now\, we just need all you special humans to bring your creative and powerful energy to the desert southwest.   \nThe Spirit World 100 and 50-mile course options are 2 of our most coveted and adored gravel routes in southern Arizona. Each course option is a reflection of the thousands of hours we’ve spent soaring through the San Rafael Valley since 2015. In order to showcase one of the Nations best remote and purely quiet destinations\, we have partnered with the Town of Patagonia to invite riders and their families to the high desert. Obsessed with the landscape of the borderlands region\, we’ve studied the maps of this area and are working closely with regional government\, land management and private entities to make this place more accessible for the entire gravel cycling community. We want to help redefine the future of outdoor recreational tourism in the greater Tucson and borderlands region of The Copper State and The Spirit World 100 will be a key player in this mission.    \nIf we said this wasn’t a race\, we’d just sound ridiculous. Any time you place 100’s of riders on the start line\, it’s a race! This race is a place to find the answer to why challenging ourselves in unfamiliar conditions is so sought after. SUMMARY:Borderland Gravel
DESCRIPTION:BorderLands Gravel is much more than a gravel race. Set in the wide-open landscape of Douglas and Cochise County\, the event celebrates adventure\, cycling culture\, community\, and the unique character of Arizona’s borderlands. \nRiders can choose from 92\, 65\, or 39-mile gravel courses\, with an E-Bike division on the 39-mile route. Younger riders receive reduced registration fees\, and a special 65-mile collegiate category helps make the event accessible to the next generation of cyclists. \nOne of the most distinctive parts of the weekend is the free Bi-National International Parade Lap. Riders cross the international border into Agua Prieta\, Mexico\, ride through the community\, and return across the border to Douglas before the gravel races begin. Special discounted registration is also offered to residents of Mexico\, reinforcing the event’s goal of bringing communities on both sides of the border together. \nFor those who would rather participate without a bicycle\, BorderLands also offers a 3K Run/Walk\, making the weekend accessible to friends\, families\, and community members. \nWhat really separates BorderLands Gravel is its sense of place. The routes showcase the history\, landscape\, and rugged beauty of the Apacheria region while introducing riders to a part of southeastern Arizona many have never experienced from the saddle. \nThe organizers describe their goal as creating an experience that brings smiles to riders\, volunteers\, families\, visitors\, and the surrounding communities.
