Arizona Track Championships
September 12 @ 7:00 am - September 13 @ 5:00 pm
$10 – $15For the first time, the Arizona Track Championships are coming to the new Tucson Velodrome, September 12–13, 2026. This is a pretty big deal for Arizona cycling. After years of Arizona riders having to travel to California to compete for track state championships, we finally have a velodrome of our own and a championship weekend right here in Tucson.
The two-day event will showcase just about everything that makes track racing so much fun to watch and race. Saturday is all about speed against the clock, with the Flying 200, 500m and 1km time trials, individual pursuits from 2km to 4km, and Team Time Trials. Sunday brings riders together for Scratch Races for men, women, masters and juniors, followed by the Team Sprint. Categories range from juniors as young as nine through masters racers 75+, giving generations of Arizona cyclists an opportunity to race on their home track.
Racing starts at 7:00 a.m. both days, with the track open for warm-up and rider check-in from 6:00–7:00 a.m. Arizona championship eligibility requires Arizona residency and a current annual USA Cycling license. Races are $15 each, with online registration required.
More than another race weekend, this feels like a milestone for cycling in Arizona. We finally have a velodrome, and now we finally get to host our own state track championships at home. Even if you have never raced on a track, this is a great weekend to come out, cheer on Arizona’s riders and experience an entirely different kind of bicycle racing.
