Weekly Ride List Oct 22-28

What is your favorite ride?  Tailwinds Magazine has asked me to take over the calendar and I’m looking to find the best rides around the Southwest.  Personally, I have not had a chance to do many races outside of Arizona and would really appreciate your feedback.

That said, I “raced” last weekend in the Baja Ultra Endurance 100 in Encenada Mexico. I say “raced” because I was there to take photos and did ride the course, but finished at about 12 hours, 7 hours behind the winners.  It was the most grueling ride I have done, especially since I have been on only 2 rides since June over 30 miles.

If you want to check out the video of the race https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqjq8j5XPSM

And the photo album https://sonanddadphotography.smugmug.com/Sports/Baja-Ultra-Endurance-100K/

This list is a major time commitment and it is my pleasure to put it together.  All I ask in return for the list is that you remember I’m A REALTOR.  If you have a relationship with another REALTOR, I love loyalty and respect those relationships.  However, if not, or if you need a second opinion, Please keep me in mind.  Many agents spend money advertising for new business, others sit open houses or cold call.  My business is based on referrals from past clients and friends.  The less time I have to do traditional prospecting the more I can do for the cycling community.  For example: this list.

Ride on,

I DID NOT CONFIRM EVERY TIME, but did get in touch with most of the ride leaders and shops.  You should always verify times before you head out and remember these ride times are when the ride leaves.  Please show up as early as needed to make sure you are ready to roll out at the time posted.

RIDE AND EVENT DISCLAIMER

These rides are not mine.  I am only sharing the data.  The Damion Alexander Team  cannot guarantee anybody’s safety.  There are unknown and unforeseen potential hazards in every ride so you should  pay attention and take reasonable precautions.  I always use a helmet.  I think that Helmets are required when riding.  If you choose to listen to music during rides you should only use the headset in the right ear and keep the headset out of the left ear. Better yet, buy a FarEnd Gear earbud.  Communication is essential during all rides and having the ability to hear is a part of your responsibility to others.  Please also ride within your limitations. You are  not racing the Tour de France.  If you see someone  that is  not riding within their limitations or are becoming a hazard to others we should politely bring this to their your attention  Dothis for your and everybody’s safety.

Also, it is everybody’s responsibility to follow all traffic laws.  We are not lemmings.  Just because somebody does something foolish does not mean you need to follow.  Use your head and enjoy your ride.

THE DAMION ALEXANDER TEAM, DAMION ALEXANDER, AND ANYONE ELSE WHO CONTRIBUTES TO THIS LIST SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIM RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY ACCIDENT OR INJURY THAT OCCURS ON THSES RIDES.  EVERY PERSON IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS AROUND THEM

WHERE DO ALL THE RIDES COME FROM?  These links and shops and clubs and teams and facebook and YOU.  See a ride that is missing.  Please let me know  Damion@DamionAlexadner.com.  Thanks

Tomorrow, October 1 is the first day of the closure of the access to Honeybee Trails from Quiet Rain Drive.  Efforts are underway to create a new access route, but for now, please spread the word not to use the WAPA Easment.

______________________________________________________________________________

The Ultimate Bike Ride list in Arizona October 3-10

Unfortunately, one of our most loved and used trails in Southern Arizona (Honeybee Trail/ Rail X Ranch), is facing an access issue. The Honeybee Home Owner Association is  shutting down the easement that accesses the trail off of Rancho Vistoso as of October 1. On Wednesday the 7th at the call to the Audience at the Oro Valley Town Council meeting I’m asking people to attend the meeting and show support for our trails and to call on the city council to look at alternative routes to accessing the trails and to create a permanent trailhead. Even if you don’t want to talk, your presence will be greatly appreciated.  For more details check out the event here.  https://www.facebook.com/events/1775319896074285/

______________________________________________________________________________

Thanks

THIS LIST IS PROVIDED AT A COURTESY OF THE DAMION ALEXANDER TEAM.  THIS LIST IS DEEMED RELIABLE, BUT NOT GUARANTEED.  WHEN POSSIBLE, CONTACT INFORMATION FOR THE GROUP RIDERS ARE PROVIDED.  TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND DOUBLE CHECK OR GO TO THE RIDE AND IF NO ONE IS THERE, GO RIDE BY YOURSELF.

The Ultimate Bike Ride List in the State of Arizona

With this ride list I have a little ask for help.  If you would be so kind to donate to Tu Nidito I would really appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.  Even better, register for Tu Nidito Ride for A Child(you can email me for more details).  The Damion Alexander Team has a team and we would love to have you join us.  In addition to getting a jersey and registration for El Tour, I have some special Swag and rides for those who join my team.  We will have a few rides as well that are likely to start with coffee and end with lunch and beverages.

Here is the link to make a donation.

http://tunidito.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=1151472&lis=1&kntae1151472=FA4D11811C964B7F84B13B78C142BF69&supId=437917109&emaillogid=

This video is a few years old, but it shows why I’m such a huge supporter of Tu Nidito.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fgdvGOvXcI .

Thanks so much for giving.  Together we can make our community truly great.

Damion

Thanks

The MOST detailed Ride List in the State of Arizona

This week I went above and beyond anything I have done in the past two years of creating this list.  Partially, for you and part for me to try and map out the events I want to be at for the next 9 months.

This is the most definitive Bike ride list in the State of Arizona.  I’m making this claim as I have spent countless hours tracking down every other list and adding every ride I found to this list.  That said, it is not complete.  PLEASE e-mail me if you see any missing rides, races, or events.  Also, if you see any errors, please let me know.

Thanks

Community Ride List July 2 – 8

The ride list is a little thin this week.  Looks like many of the ride leaders are taking some hard earned vacations for Independence Day.

As we do celebrate the birth of our Nation, I hope that you will take a second and reflect on how lucky we are to live in a nation that has so much freedom.  I know this year with the presidential race that it is hard to appreciate the other half, but it is the combined talents, knowledge, philosophies that make us a great nation.

Enjoy your BBQ’s, Fireworks, Family, friends and of course, Bikes.  ___________________________________________________________________________

TBC Circuit Race Part one.

Lets get this party started.  The early start.  There are nearly 2000 images to get through from the circuit race.  Today I need to prospect for new business for my real estate team.  However, I’d rather save the time and focus on the photos, for you.  So, send me a referral today and I can justify rocking through all the images.  Otherwise, I’m going to need to focus on my real job and leave the hobby for next week.

These photos are a major time commitment and it is my pleasure to take the photos and share them with you. All I ask in return for the photos is that you remember I’m A REALTOR. For example: these photo albums. THANKS!!!

Community Ride List June 25- July 1, 2016

Last Sunday hit a 20 year High in the Old Pueblo.  However, it has not stopped people from riding both on the road and mountain Bikes.  I find that a great way of dealing with the heat is to ride at 4:30AM. Finish before 9AM.  Go to work for a few hours and do what people in Tucson have done for centuries during the heat of the day. Take a siesta!

Tomorrow is a fun ride that benefits BICAS.  It is the 3rd annual “Hottest Day of the Year Ride” BBQ and Pool Party! An easy-paced benefit ride for those of us who brave the scorching Tucson summers, with fun stops to cool down and mingle. The ride ends at Menlo Park where participants will enjoy a family-style BBQ and take a refreshing dip in the pool. Quickly becoming one of Tucson most-anticipated summertime shindigs!

Community ride list June 11-18

In the last ride list I was so excited about the low temperatures, but said “of course, it will likely jump into a record high the following week with temps in the 120’s just to bring us back to reality.”  Well, I was off by 8 degrees as we only hit 112.  It was the second earliest it has hit 110 in history.

I’m skipping past anything on global warming and heading for ideas of coping with the heat.

I have been putting in more miles now than at any point this year and have a secrets for dealing with the heat.  If you have a bathtub, fill it up and leave it full.  It will drop to room temperature.  A post ride dunk is the difference between being able to function the rest of the day or being a blob.  It refreshes both the mind and body.

Other tricks that work include starting your ride in the dark so you are done before 8AM, night rides, keeping hydrated, heading up Mt. Lemmon or to any state north of Arizona.

Ride list May 28- June 3

Can you believe that we are at the end of May and still seeing temperatures in the 80’s.  On a ride this week with a 5:30AM start I was actually feeling chilled.  It looks like this trend is holding until next Friday. Of course, it will likely jump into a record high the following week with temps in the 120’s just to bring us back to reality.

This weekend has a great challenge with the Triple Crown Challenge.  Three Days, Mt. Graham, Kitt Peak and Mt. Lemmon.  It is only $20 for each SAG supported event or all 3 for $50.  Contact Tim Carolan at timcarolan.mac.com for more details.

Community Ride List May 21-28

It’s starting to heat up.  Over the Memorial weekend GABA offers one of the most affordable and fun 3 days of bike touring in Northern Arizona and New Mexico with the Luna Lake Ride.  If you are willing to camp it only costs 125.00 and includes food, transportation of your bags and SAG stops and support.  I have done this ride twice and highly recommend the entire experience.

For more details check out this page. http://www.bikegaba.org/content.aspx?page_id=87&club_id=307669&item_id=480677

Saturday is the grand opening of the Loop on the Pantano.  With this section open the Loop is only missing the section from Tanque Verde to Craycroft.  It is likely to be completed before the end of next year.

Wednesday is the best networking ride.  It is called the Business Builder Bike Ride.  It is a mountain Bike ride, but also is off the loop, so there is opportunity for everyone to come out.  Best part, it ends with Beer.

Ride on,

Damion

I DID NOT CONFIRM EVERY TIME, but did get in touch with most of the ride leaders and shops.  You should always verify times before you head out and remember these ride times are when the ride leaves.  Please show up as early as needed to make sure you are ready to roll out at the time posted.
