Bicycle Ranch Roundup

Join us on one of our Saturday morning group rides.  They are very popular with the local cycling community and the regulars range in ability from racers to enthusiasts out for a fun ride.

If you have never ridden in a large group before, it can be intimidating.  If you need some pointers or additional assistance, we will be glad to help.  Our goal is to make your ride as enjoyable as possible.

Join our Strava club and compare your efforts to other Roundup riders. You can find our club here.

If you have never ridden in a large group before, it can be intimidating.  If you need some pointers or additional assistance, we will be glad to help.
Main RoundUp Group : 55.5miles at 18 -22+ mph.  There are always splits and smaller groups forming.

“All store rides are designed to promote the enjoyment of cycling in a friendly group atmosphere.”

Ride List February 5, 2020

This Ride List is complied by The Damion Alexander Team with Long Realty. Our team is passionate about cycling, getting people outside, healthy food, art and helping to build our community. We carry this into our work helping people create a lifestyle with that in mind. If you are thinking of a move, or know anyone who is, we would love to assist you. If you have other questions about Tucson and the region, Ask Us.

I DID NOT CONFIRM EVERY TIME, but did get in touch with most of the ride leaders and shops.  You should always verify times before you head out and remember these ride times are when the ride leaves.  Please show up as early as needed to make sure you are ready to roll out at the time posted.

RIDE AND EVENT DISCLAIMER

These rides are not mine.  I am only sharing the data.  The Damion Alexander Team  cannot guarantee anybody’s safety.  There are unknown and unforeseen potential hazards in every ride so you should  pay attention and take reasonable precautions.  I always use a helmet.  I think that Helmets are required when riding.  If you choose to listen to music during rides you should only use the headset in the right ear and keep the headset out of the left ear. Better yet, buy a FarEnd Gear earbud.  Communication is essential during all rides and having the ability to hear is a part of your responsibility to others.  Please also ride within your limitations. You are  not racing the Tour de France.  If you see someone  that is  not riding within their limitations or are becoming a hazard to others we should politely bring this to their your attention  Do this for your and everybody’s safety.  Also, it is everybody’s responsibility to follow all traffic laws.  We are not lemmings.  Just because somebody does something foolish does not mean you need to follow.  Use your head and enjoy your ride.

THE DAMION ALEXANDER TEAM, DAMION ALEXANDER, AND ANYONE ELSE WHO CONTRIBUTES TO THIS LIST SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIM RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY ACCIDENT OR INJURY THAT OCCURS ON THESE RIDES.  EVERY PERSON IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS AROUND THEM.

WHERE DO ALL THE RIDES COME FROM?  These links and shops and clubs and teams and facebook and YOU.  See a ride that is missing.  Please let me know  Damion@DamionAlexadner.com.  Thanks

This list is a major time commitment and it is my pleasure to put it together.  All I ask in return for the list is that you remember I’m A REALTOR.  If you have a relationship with another REALTOR, I love loyalty and respect those relationships.  However, if not, or if you need a second opinion, Please keep me in mind.  Many agents spend money advertising for new business, others sit open houses or cold call.  My business is based on referrals from past clients and friends.  The less time I have to do traditional prospecting the more I can do for the cycling community.  For example: this list.

THIS LIST IS PROVIDED AT A COURTESY OF THE DAMION ALEXANDER TEAM.  THIS LIST IS DEEMED RELIABLE, BUT NOT GUARANTEED.  WHEN POSSIBLE, CONTACT INFORMATION FOR THE GROUP RIDERS ARE PROVIDED.  TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND DOUBLE CHECK OR GO TO THE RIDE AND IF NO ONE IS THERE, GO RIDE BY YOURSELF.

Ride list for the week of August 17, 2018

It’s that time of the year that the ride options start to increase. Many of the charities that El Tour benefit have training rides. This week, Tu Nidito has it’s first ride. It will leave from 3922 N. Mountain Ave at 6AM.

Have you heard about the 110 Acres Bike Park? There is a public open house at Yellow Brick Coffee, 3220 S. Dodge Blvd, August 18 at 9AM. Yellow Brick is not far from Aviation Bike Path and might be a good ride to coffee and learn about this incredible project.

Ladies – WTF (woman, trans, femme), Want to know how to fix your own bike or maybe just change a flat tire? Roadrunner Bicycles is offering bike stands, tools and Professional mechanic help from Deidra Bustos for FREE to anyone who identifies as a individual WTF (woman, trans, femme). Bring your bike or bike related questions to Roadrunner’s monthly Bike Mechanic skills night and get schooled on everything bike. This is a monthly event and the next one is August 26 from 5-7PM.

If you see someone  that is  not riding within their limitations or are becoming a hazard to others we should politely bring this to their your attention  Dothis for your and everybody’s safety.

Also, it is everybody’s responsibility to follow all traffic laws.  We are not lemmings.  Just because somebody does something foolish does not mean you need to follow.  Use your head and enjoy your ride.

THE DAMION ALEXANDER TEAM, DAMION ALEXANDER, AND ANYONE ELSE WHO CONTRIBUTES TO THIS LIST SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIM RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY ACCIDENT OR INJURY THAT OCCURS ON THSES RIDES.  EVERY PERSON IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS AROUND THEM

WHERE DO ALL THE RIDES COME FROM?  These links and shops and clubs and teams and facebook and YOU.  See a ride that is missing.  Please let me know  Damion@DamionAlexadner.com.  Thanks

Community Bike Rides May 12-18 2018

This coming Wednesday at 5:00PM is one of the most important rides of the year and I really hope you can make it. Please bring you friends, family, acquaintances, the guy you meet riding this weekend and your entire cycling team. It is the Ride of Silence. I get it, none of us want to think of the dangers posed by riding on the road. This ride forces us to confront that reality.  However, it is also an opportunity for us to show the rest of the community we have a right to ride on the streets and that they should be looking out for us.

If you have not heard, the Arizona State Legislators again failed to send a bill to the Governor that would ban texting while driving. Arizona is the only state that has not enacted a law. This Ride of Silence is also a message to the elected officials. The media will be there. If we have a HUGE turnout the visual is so much stronger in the news. So, PLEASE attend. It is only a five mile ride, but the impact may actually save your life of someone you know and care about.  There will be Pizza provided by Papa Johns after the ride.

Have you ever done a group ride, race or run in Southern Arizona?  If so, the chances are that I have a photo of you at the event. My son, Samuel, and I have created a page for all the images we capture. If you have not seen it, check it out https://thetucsonphotographer.smugmug.com/   The last event I posted was from the GABA Mt. Lemmon Hill climb. https://thetucsonphotographer.smugmug.com/Sports/Cycling/Large-Group-Rides-Not-races/GABA-Hill-Climb-2018/

Community Ride List May 27 – June 2

Somewhere between the bike ride and the hot dogs, I hope you take a few minutes to reflect on why we have this three day weekend.  My heart felt condolences to all who have lost a loved one in the service of our country and my gratitude to all who have served.

_________________________________________________________________________ Update on the appeal to the zoning interpretations the WAPA trail access to Honeybee. Both the HOA and My Appeal are at an agreed standstill through the end of 2017, meaning the trail remains open to Rancho Vistoso Residents through the end of this year. Hopefully, if we continue to show respect for the neighbors this will become permanent. Respect means being quiet while you are riding by the homes, and not shining lights into backyards. We definitely are moving into summer night riding season, so if you must ride the trail consider taking a second low lumen light until you get past all homes. If you’re going out in a group I highly recommend using the church access route.

On a different note of access to the trails,The Town of Oro Valley, SDMB, the county are diligently working on The big wash route. I would encourage people to continue to show up at the city Council meetings for the call of the audience and say how important this is. A constant presence keeps it on The councilmembers mind. Up to the state land it looks like we may have a trail that we can start building as soon as this summer. The temporary trailhead has been approved and there is hope to finalize it late this year early next year. When the time comes it’ll be very important for us to be vocal about what we want to see if the trailhead.

Ride List for May 20-26

The list is getting a little smaller as the heat of summer is coming and many people are heading for cooler climates. Hopefully, next week I’ll find time to beef up  list of some of the best rides in the SW and California if you are looking to get away for a race or some bike touring.

One such ride I know is the GABA Luna Lake ride. I’ve done this a few times and if you are looking for a three day fully supported ride for a very reasonable price over Memorial day weekend in Northern AZ and New Mexico I highly recommend it.

Another great option over the Memorial Day weekend is Cyclofit Solutionsn Triple Crown Challenge 2017, 3 days of basically flat riding in Southern Arizona. By flat, I mean Kitt Peak, Mt. Ghrahm and Mt. lemmon over three days.  The event is limited to 50 riders this year and each is required to ride all three days. Each day we will have a sag at the halfway point and the top as well. Extra clothing will be transported to the top as well for the way down. Email timcarolan@mac.com with any questions and details. The event is already almost full at this point and then they will start a waiting list if anyone needs to cancel.

I DID NOT CONFIRM EVERY TIME, but did get in touch with most of the ride leaders and shops.  You should always verify times before you head out and remember these ride times are when the ride leaves.  Please show up as early as needed to make sure you are ready to roll out at the time posted.

Ride List for April 15-21 2017

This weekend is one of my favorite events of the year. The El Grupo Scavenger Hunt is a super fun, challenging yet a family-friendly event. You bring your bike (and friends!). El Grupo will give you a map of the downtown area. On the back you will find 10 riddles to solve and 10 objects to find. You will race, ride or gallop (at your chosen pace!) within a 3 mile radius of downtown searching for the objects, tackling feats of strength and stupidity, and learning about obscure parts in downtown Tucson you never knew existed!  There is no better way of discovering the community than this ride. Enjoy coffee and treats from Beyond Bread while you get ready to rid as well as adult drinks from Catalina Brewing Company and lunch included in registration. There will also be a raffle with prizes from awesome local businesses! And there is a 100% chance that everyone’s favorite community photographer will be there to catch you in all the silliness.

April is BikeFest. Living Street Alliance has a calendar of events at https://www.bikefesttucson.com/events/2017-04/  Events range from skill classes, mechanic workshops, bike in movies, brewery rides and more.

Community Ride List 3.25.17 – 4.1.17 and beyond

I’m a little late on getting the ride list out.  Work keeps getting in the way of all the fun stuff, like sharing bike rides.    Speaking of work- Real Estate, if you care to see my newest listing, you can click the link below.

http://www.flexmls.com/cgi-bin/mainmenu.cgi?cmd=url+other/run_public_link.html&public_link_tech_id=1al36kegdw7r&s=12&cid=1

A HUGE Thanks to everyone who donated last week to the kickstarter campaign to paint the bike Mural at 6th and Stone.  Joe Pagac was able to raise the funds he needed and has already started painting.  After I sent out the ride list there was a spike in donations. It makes me so happy seeing the community come together for one of our own.

April is bike month in Tucson. Bike Fest Tucson have created a nice calendar and have over 50 events already.  If you have a ride it is easy to add it. If I have time, I’ll add all of them to my list, but this week I’m just putting in the link. https://www.bikefesttucson.com/events/2017-04/

Ride list for 01.7.17 – 01.14.17

Happy New Year.  If your resolution was to ride more miles in 2017 this list of rides will help keep you on track.

If you know anyone who would like to receive the list, please feel free to send them my way.  Damion@DamionAlexander.com

I’ve been really busy working on the distracted driving summit at the State Capital in Phoenix on the 25th.  We need to have a GIGANTIC turn out so the state can see how important safety is.  There will be a ride from Tempe to the Capital that morning. Please share the event and do what you can to make it!

Damion

I DID NOT CONFIRM EVERY TIME, but did get in touch with most of the ride leaders and shops.  You should always verify times before you head out and remember these ride times are when the ride leaves.  Please show up as early as needed to make sure you are ready to roll out at the time posted.

We are almost there.  The grand daddy of Tucson Rides.  Over 8000 riders will be taking over the streets of Tucson next weekend for the Tucson Medical Center 34th El Tour de Tucson presented by Casino del Sol.  For many, it’s a good week to taper.  For others, like me, it might be about time to start training;-)

I’d like to THANK all who have donated to my ride for a child as well as everyone who has been riding for the other 60 beneficiaries of El Tour.  I’ve been thinking that next year I’d like to ride for each and every one of them. It fuels my soul seeing so many help others doing what they love.  Truly a win/win.  There is still time to donate if you want to give and I’m only $300 away from my goal.  Click Here to donate.

There are many activities that surround the El Tour Super Week, beginning one week prior to ride day, includes a 2-day El Tour Bike, Fitness & Health EXPO, El Tour Orientation Meetings, a Rusing, Lopez & Lizardi El Tour Dedication Dinner at Casino del Sol and an 8-day Indoor El Tour program.

Ride day begins with the Rio Nuevo 104-mile Main Event followed by the 76-Mile El Tour, the 54-Mile El Tour, the 40-Mile El Tour, the Town of Marana 28-Mile El Tour as well as the Tucson Medical Center El Tour Fun Ride presented by McDonald’s.  Tune into the Cenpatico Integrated Care Ride Day Radio Show on ESPN Tucson for up-to-the-minute coverage of the front runners as well as interviews and updates from the remote starts. The HSL Properties Downtown Fiesta with kids activities, music, a Michelob ULTRA Garden, food, massages and an on-going Grand Cycling Awards Ceremony round out the day.

Ride on,

Damion

Thanks
