Every spring in the desert North of Tucson the best 24 hour mountain bike race is held. I could tell you about this wonderful extravaganza and the 4000 plus people who come to race, camp and support each other, but instead I’ll just share a few links to my photo albums. On the weekend I shot over 6000 photos. I’m still in the process of sorting them, but here are a few albums to get a feel for the festivities.

I’ve been really busy working on the distracted driving summit at the State Capital in Phoenix on the 25^th. We need to have a GIGANTIC turn out so the state can see how important safety is. There will be a ride from Tempe to the Capital that morning. Please share the event and do what you can to make it!

This list is a major time commitment and it is my pleasure to put it together. All I ask in return for the list is that you remember I’m A REALTOR. We are almost there. The grand daddy of Tucson Rides. Over 8000 riders will be taking over the streets of Tucson next weekend for the Tucson Medical Center 34^th El Tour de Tucson presented by Casino del Sol. For many, it’s a good week to taper. For others, like me, it might be about time to start training;-)

I’d like to THANK all who have donated to my ride for a child as well as everyone who has been riding for the other 60 beneficiaries of El Tour. I’ve been thinking that next year I’d like to ride for each and every one of them. It fuels my soul seeing so many help others doing what they love. Truly a win/win. There are many activities that surround the El Tour Super Week, beginning one week prior to ride day, includes a 2-day El Tour Bike, Fitness & Health EXPO, El Tour Orientation Meetings, a Rusing, Lopez & Lizardi El Tour Dedication Dinner at Casino del Sol and an 8-day Indoor El Tour program.

Ride day begins with the Rio Nuevo 104-mile Main Event followed by the 76-Mile El Tour, the 54-Mile El Tour, the 40-Mile El Tour, the Town of Marana 28-Mile El Tour as well as the Tucson Medical Center El Tour Fun Ride presented by McDonald’s. Tune into the Cenpatico Integrated Care Ride Day Radio Show on ESPN Tucson for up-to-the-minute coverage of the front runners as well as interviews and updates from the remote starts. The HSL Properties Downtown Fiesta with kids activities, music, a Michelob ULTRA Garden, food, massages and an on-going Grand Cycling Awards Ceremony round out the day.

The list keeps growing each week. This weekend has some great racing with the UA Biopark blast crit and Oracle Road race. On the MTB side there is a party at 24 Hour town by SDMB with a BBQ and Catalina Brewing Company Beer plus trail work on Sunday getting ready for the big dance in two weeks. Both GABA and Cactus cycling have rides every day from beginners on up.

Happy Thanksgiving weekend. I hope you had a chance to over indulge in both miles in the saddle and the seasons trappings. I certainly have. I am so Thankful for the Cycling Community in Southern Arizona and each of you who give back. I’d like to name people, but the list is so long, it would exceed the length of this list.

I know it was hard for me to pull the ride list together this week. El Tour follow up, photos, work, family, turkey… I was even asked by a national blog to write an El Tour wrap up article. It will be appearing in GranFondo.com sometime in the near future. I put a copy of it with links on my blog

This is the most challenging week of the year for many cyclist. They just spent months preparing for El Tour and now that the goal has been achieved they put the bike up in the garage and don’t look at it until next fall. Hopefully, this ride list will help you find some motivation to keep going. Personally, I think the Tour de Cure on April 19^th is an exceptional ride to train for. Not only is it great motivation, but it also raises funds for the ADA. For some types of diabetes, riding and being active can help manage it and may even delay or stop the onset in the first place.

With four different routes, including a 10 mile recreational ride, 30 mile and 60 mile road rides, and a 30 mile mountain bike ride, this event provides an experience for everyone.
