Eclectic Arivaca: C,C+,B/3/48.5

Details

Ride Description:
This magical ride travels from Amado to Aravaca and back. The rolling hills offer unparalleled vistas of several mountain ranges, cattle country, and the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Sanctuary. Aravaca is an eclectic small town, population of 600, made up of artists, retirees, former hippies, ranchers, and folks just wanting to live off the grid.

We will stop halfway at the Aravaca Mercantile store, where water and food can be purchased. We will then make our way to some picnic tables at the entrance to the Sanctuary just down the road.

Amado is about 35 minutes south of Tucson and although we have an early start, it is well worth the drive.

GABA Spring Bike Swap

The Spring 2024 Bike Swap

The largest bicycle swap in the southwest, GABA’s Bike Swap in Tucson attracts over 5,000 attendees and more than 40 vendors bi-annually. This Swap Meet will be held at ARMORY Park, 6th Avenue and 12th Street.

VENDORS, Please Use the Vendors Registration Button off to the right (or click HERE). Spaces are assigned by the event coordinator based on the number of spaces available and the event history. The coordinator also gives consideration based on when you register, so register early to get the best space. See the map below to locate spaces that will best display your goods. Don’t worry about being a member of GABA or not, and go ahead and use the default non-member options while registering. While in the future I may put a price break in for members, you are not required to be a member and there is no discount for being one.

If you are a vendor that collects tax from your store outside the City of Tucson, please note that new rules have forced me to register and give out your business information to the city. Please help me determine this by indicating you’re a business on the registration page. The City will contact you with regards to a temporary vendor permit which is $25, and they may collect tax from your sales. More information is HERE. If, for example, you are selling items out of a garage, or are registering as an individual for this bike swap, then you will not be required to register with the city.

INDIVIDUALS: Individuals this year may register for an individual (single 10×15) space. Click the Vendors Registration button off to the right.

Note: Don’t be left out if you’re an individual with several items you’d like to sell or swap. Reserve the new standard space today to ensure you have a place at the Spring Bike Swap.

BUYERS: Come down to see a wide selection of bicycles and bicycle parts from around the southwest.

I JUST HAVE ONE BIKE I WANT TO SELL: I’ve been here before too. Bring it down, put a price on it, walk around and check out other stuff from vendors and other individuals that are trying to sell or swap.

Contacts are Doug Horn (douglas.horn@outlook.com, (520) 404-1181)

Disclaimer: Spaces are coordinated and signed up on a first-come, first serve basis. The organizer has no control if a vehicle has been left over-night and is in your assigned space that morning. The organizer will do his best to give the affected vendor the best space available the morning of the bike swap.

GABA will provide free spots on the grass along the paved pathways in Armory Park. There are no reservations, it is entirely first come first served.

Vendors in the park will be required to follow the rules defined in the link below.

Community Ride List May 21-28

It’s starting to heat up.  Over the Memorial weekend GABA offers one of the most affordable and fun 3 days of bike touring in Northern Arizona and New Mexico with the Luna Lake Ride.  If you are willing to camp it only costs 125.00 and includes food, transportation of your bags and SAG stops and support.  I have done this ride twice and highly recommend the entire experience.

For more details check out this page. http://www.bikegaba.org/content.aspx?page_id=87&club_id=307669&item_id=480677

Saturday is the grand opening of the Loop on the Pantano.  With this section open the Loop is only missing the section from Tanque Verde to Craycroft.  It is likely to be completed before the end of next year.

Wednesday is the best networking ride.  It is called the Business Builder Bike Ride.  It is a mountain Bike ride, but also is off the loop, so there is opportunity for everyone to come out.  Best part, it ends with Beer.

This list is a major time commitment and it is my pleasure to put it together.  All I ask in return for the list is that you remember I’m A REALTOR.  If you have a relationship with another REALTOR, I love loyalty and respect those relationships.  However, if not, or if you need a second opinion, Please keep me in mind.  Many agents spend money advertising for new business, others sit open houses or cold call.  My business is based on referrals from past clients and friends.  The less time I have to do traditional prospecting the more I can do for the cycling community.  For example: this list.

Ride on,

Damion

I DID NOT CONFIRM EVERY TIME, but did get in touch with most of the ride leaders and shops.  You should always verify times before you head out and remember these ride times are when the ride leaves.  Please show up as early as needed to make sure you are ready to roll out at the time posted.

Also, it is everybody’s responsibility to follow all traffic laws.  We are not lemmings.  Just because somebody does something foolish does not mean you need to follow.  Use your head and enjoy your ride.
