Community Bike Ride List June 27-July 3

Happy Monsoon.  It’s hot and wet out there.  Be aware that new “obstacles” like sand and rocks are washed on the road this time of year.  Be kind and call or point out hazards.  Remember to hydrate and keep on pedaling.  This time of the year can mentally be challenging to get on the bike, but it is well worth the effort.  I hope to see you on the road this week.

I’m leading a ride Sunday morning for Tu Nidito.  It will be about 50 miles and 18 MPH plus.  They have two other rides that are short and shorter, so one for all speeds.  Free Breakfast after the rides.

This list is a major time commitment and it is my pleasure to put it together.  All I ask in return for the list is that you remember I’m A REALTOR.  If you have a relationship with another REALTOR, I love loyalty and respect those relationships.  However, if not, or if you need a second opinion, please keep The Damion Alexander Team in mind.  Many agents spend money advertising for new business, some door knock and others cold call.  My business is based on referrals from past clients and friends.  The less time I have to do traditional prospecting the more I can do for the clients and friends you refer my team AND for the cycling community.  For example: This list.

I DID NOT CONFIRM EVERY TIME THIS WEEK FOR THE REOCCURING RIDES.  I TRY AND GIVE CONTACT INFO SO YOU CAN CHECK ON THE RIDES.

RIDE AND EVENT DISCLAIMER

These rides are not mine.  I am only sharing the data.  The Damion Alexander Team  cannot guarantee anybody’s safety.  There are unknown and unforeseen potential hazards in every ride so you should  pay attention and take reasonable precautions.  I always use a helmet.  I think that Helmets are required when riding.  If you choose to listen to music during rides you should only use the headset in the right ear and keep the headset out of the left ear. Better yet, buy a FarEnd Gear earbud.  Communication is essential during all rides and having the ability to hear is a part of your responsibility to others.  Please also ride within your limitations. You are  not racing the Tour de France.  If you see someone  that is  not riding within their limitations or are becoming a hazard to others we should politely bring this to their your attention  Dothis for your and everybody’s safety.

Also, it is everybody’s responsibility to follow all traffic laws.  We are not lemmings.  Just because somebody does something foolish does not mean you need to follow.  Use your head and enjoy your ride.

Weekly Bike Ride List for June 13-20

YOUR BIKE MISSES YOU!  You know who you are.  It’s so easy to fall into the pattern.  It starts with a flat tire, a big project at work, or after the last big ride you trained for and you have not been on the bicycle since.  It’s time, this week, to recommit.  Do it for the fitness, do it for the better looking body, do it for the mind, but most of all just do it because bikes are so fun to ride.  Below are rides for every level and every speed.

This week I’m recommending a few rides that will get you back in the saddle.  Both are lead by Tu Nidito as part of their El Tour De Tucson “Ride for a Child” program.  Both will have a free breakfast afterwards.  The fast ride should be about 50 miles and average pace will be 18 MPH plus.  The second is a no drop ride and everyone should free comfortable attending (even those who have been neglecting their trusty steads).  These rides are open to everyone; that means YOU!

6:30 AM Sunday 3922 N. Mountain Avenue https://www.facebook.com/events/433641326797164/

There is one event that I’m encouraging everyone to attend this week. On Monday, June 15, 4:00 PM at the River Park Inn, 777 W. Cushing St. is the kick-off press conference for the YES on Pima County Bonds campaign.  It’s important to show broad community support and your attendance there will be very helpful.  Why am I posting something political on this page?  Because if you ride a bike and live in Pima County, this Bond has so much that is going to impact and enhance your lifestyle, that you should support it.  Just to name a few of the 99 programs that will be good for cycling: The Arizona Bicycle Center Velodrome, 2 BMX parks, Finishing “the Loop”, and repaving roads….

Community Bike Ride List for April 4-10

This week the ride list is a little different due to showing homes, home inspections, Family, Passover, El Grupo Scavenger Hunt, Good Friday, Easter and most importantly the weather is just so good for riding I have not had time to make the list.

I usually check these sites for the list.  Please check put the pages for GABA, SAMBA, and Cactus Cycling.

Cactus Cyclinghttp://cactuscycling.org/schedule.php

SAMBA http://www.meetup.com/Southern-Arizona-Mountain-Bike-Association

GABA http://www.meetup.com/bikegaba/events/

If you see this list and are not on the distribution list, you can sign up here.  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/19F3Hdit45F997x87YBNTaswKVysqLmU1SYD6OZpyub4/viewform

This list is a major time commitment and it is my pleasure to put it together.  All I ask in return for the list is that you remember I’m A REALTOR.  If you have a relationship with another REALTOR, I love loyalty and respect those relationships.  However, if not, or if you need a second opinion, Please keep me in mind.

Many agents spend money advertising for new business, others sit open houses or cold call.  My business is based on referrals from past clients and friends.  The less time I have to do traditional prospecting the more I can do for the cycling community.  For example: this list.

THIS LIST IS PROVIDED AT A COURTESY OF THE DAMION ALEXANDER TEAM.  THIS LIST IS DEEMED RELIABLE, BUT NOT GUARANTEED.  WHEN POSSIBLE, CONTACT INFORMATION FOR THE GROUP RIDERS ARE PROVIDED.  TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND DOUBLE CHECK OR GO TO THE RIDE AND IF NO ONE IS THERE, GO RIDE BY YOURSELD.

THE DAMION ALEXANDER TEAM, DAMION ALEXANDER, AND ANYONE ELSE WHO CONTRIBUTES TO THIS LIST SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIM RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY ACCIDENT OR INJURY THAT OCCURS ON THSES RIDES.  EVERY PERSON IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS AROUND THEM

If you see this list and are not on the distribution list, you can sign up here.  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/19F3Hdit45F997x87YBNTaswKVysqLmU1SYD6OZpyub4/viewform

I DID NOT CONFIRM EVERY TIME THIS WEEK FOR THE REOCCURING RIDES.  I TRY AND GIVE CONTACT INFO SO YOU CAN CHECK ON THE RIDES.

Community Bike Ride List February 28 – March 6

This Sunday is the Tucson Tour De Cure .  If you are looking for a fully supported ride please come out and join us.  The Damion Alexander Team is a huge supporter of the American Diabetes Association, Tour De Cure,  Team Type 1 and a sponsor for this event.   I am asked to support dozens of charities each year and the reason I feel so passionate about the ADA is that by riding a bike and being active you can stop the onset of type 2 diabetes.  Team Type 1 has a professional cycling team made up entirely of type 1 diabetics.  The efforts they put out shows a “can do” attitude in the face of adversity that I believe we all have inside us.   You don’t need to have Tour De France aspirations to live a better, healthier and happier lifestyle.  I look forward to seeing you Sunday.

Many agents spend money advertising for new business, some door knock and others  cold call.  My business is based on referrals from past clients and friends.  The less time I have to do traditional prospecting the more I can do for the clients and friends you refer my team AND for  the cycling community.  For example: This list.

Community Bike Ride List February 21-28

We made progress on the Velodrome this week and The Damion Alexander Team has shared a half dozen or so photo Albums from the 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo on Facebook.  So far only about 20 percent of the images are published, more coming daily.  I’m hoping to have a blog up soon about the velodrome, but for now if you want to help, please fill out the questionnaire on www.BondElection.org.

Support Senate Bills for Cyclist Safety

Brendan Lyons, Executive Director of Look, Save a life Arizona has created a page on change.org to show your support for two bills that are currently with the State Senate.

The page says

“On behalf of the safety for all who utilize our public roadways, vulnerable users such as First Responders, victims of distracted driving and the families left behind to pick up the pieces, we respectfully encourage your consideration for S.B. 1102 (Texting While Driving, Prohibition) andS.B. 1302 (Vulnerable Users of Public Ways).

A texting while driving prohibition will make it unlawful for an individual operating a motor vehicle to send or read messages by means of a wireless communication device. Researchers observe that texting while driving decreases reaction time to a greater extent than drunk driving. Research like this has driven 47 states to pass legislation banning drivers from texting while driving. Arizona, the first state to propose a prohibition nine years ago, however, has failed to adopt this law.

The purpose of a Vulnerable Road User Law is to protect people who utilize the road who are not otherwise protected by being encased in the protective steel shell of a motor vehicle (First-Responders, Pedestrians, Bicyclists, Wheelchair Bound, etc.). The vulnerable user law provides for increased fines in cases where a vulnerable road user is injured or killed because of negligence or as the result of a traffic violation.

Currently, unless there is proof of gross negligence or circumstances such as alcohol or drug use, there are inadequate provisions in state law to support bringing meaningful and significant charges against the motor vehicle driver who has caused such harm to a vulnerable user.  Arizona law is far too lenient in punishing careless drivers who injure vulnerable users.  Non-motorists using a road or street have every right to expect that drivers will be alert and avoid them.  For those drivers who are unable to comply, there needs to be a provision in state law where their driving skills are called into question and penalties applied.

In 2013, a DPS Officer writing a report at an accident scene was killed by a distracted motorist driving a semi-truck. Arizona ranks among the most dangerous states in the U.S. for fatalities caused by distracted driving.  This small change in legislation will bring a renewed focus to safety for all who utilize our public byways throughout Arizona.

By signing this petition you are simply asking Arizona’s Legislature and Governor to pass a meaningful Vulnerable User law as well as a Texting/Driving Prohibition.  Thank you for taking the time to sign this petition and voice your concern.”

This is the link to sign up and show your support.  https://www.change.org/p/arizona-state-house-stand-with-first-responders-to-support-strong-anti-distracted-driving-laws?recruiter=78152858&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=share_facebook_responsive&utm_term=mob-xs-share_petition-custom_msg&fb_ref=Default

Community Bike Ride List February 6-13

Last week The Damion Alexander Team shared thousands of photos from various rides and events around Tucson.  To see the photos, Look at “The Damion Alexander Team” on facebook and please like it while you are there.

Two bills are currently being reviewed in the AZ State Legislature. SB 1102 which would prohibit texting and driving and SB 1302 which modifies AZ Vulnerable Users Laws to include bicyclists and stiffer penalties. Please consider writing, emailing or calling your AZ Legislator to ask them to support both of these bills. They both are currently assigned to the Transportation Committee chaired by Sen. Bob Worsley and to the Public Safety Military Technology Committee chaired by Sen. Steve Smith. You can find out who your Legislators are by visiting http://www.azleg.gov/MemberRoster.asp?Body=S

Many agents spend money advertising for new business, some door knock and others  cold call.  My business is based on referrals from past clients and friends.  The less time I have to do traditional prospecting the more I can do for the clients and friends you refer my team AND for  the cycling community.  For example: This list.

Many agents spend money advertising for new business, others sit open houses or cold call.  My business is based on referrals from past clients and friends.  The less time I have to do traditional prospecting the more I can do for the cycling community.  For example: this list.

Many agents spend money advertising for new business, others sit open houses or cold call.  My business is based on referrals from past clients and friends.  The less time I have to do traditional prospecting the more I can do for the cycling community.  For example: this list.
