Community Ride list for March 19-26

This weekend is the 30th Tucson Bicycle Classic.  I see how much work goes into making events like this happen.  A HUGE thanks to the staff,  volunteers and sponsors who make it all happen. I’m proud to see The Damion Alexander Team on the logo soup supporting racing and cyclist in Southern Arizona and knowing I’m doing a small part to keep this event alive and thriving. I’ll have lots of images from the weekend and will share them both … Continue reading Community Ride list for March 19-26

Community Bike Ride List March 12-19

I’m still trying to catch up, as you can see I’m working on the list at 10 on a Friday night.   I hope you have a chance to get out and ride this week.  The weather is perfect and your bike needs the exercise.  I Monday we have a meeting for the Velodrome.  I have an idea that I’m really excited about that could potentially get a Velodrome downtown and way ahead of any prior schedule.  I’ve been talking with … Continue reading Community Bike Ride List March 12-19

A tribute to Ken Vieira

Why has the collision that took Ken Vieira and Clare Rhodes had such a deep impact on the community?  I’ve been advocating for cyclist for nearly a decade and even though the deaths of Patricia Lyon-Surrey, Rafe Sagarin, John Henderson, Bruce Hedges, Jose Rincon and all the others were all tragic they did not capture the attention of the cycling community in the same way.  I’ve been pondering this for days now.  Perhaps it is the cumulative effect of all … Continue reading A tribute to Ken Vieira

Community Bike Ride List February 20-27 2016

This week the county installed a new stop sign on Mission Road at Los Reales.  This is about a mile after “the Shootout” usually starts to hammer heading south.  I’ve heard various ideas of how the ride should adjust for the new stop sign.  What seems to make the most sense to me is to keep the roll out until a few hundred meters after the stop sign.  This will allow everyone to come to a legal stop and not … Continue reading Community Bike Ride List February 20-27 2016

Community Bike Ride List January 30- February 5

Are you interested in a Ride for Reading Event?  It would include collecting and delivering books on bikes to local elementary schools. The list keeps growing each week.   This weekend has some great racing with the UA Biopark blast crit and Oracle Road race.  On the MTB side there is a party at 24 Hour town by SDMB with a BBQ and Catalina Brewing Company Beer plus trail work on Sunday getting ready for the big dance in two weeks.  … Continue reading Community Bike Ride List January 30- February 5

Community Bike Ride List January 23-29

Since I am just re-sharing information here, I am torn between putting the ride list out earlier, but missing many rides or waiting until late on Friday when all of the weekend rides are posted.  What do you think?  Better to wait or should I send it out incomplete on Thursday or Friday Morning? This list is a major time commitment and it is my pleasure to put it together.  All I ask in return for the list is that … Continue reading Community Bike Ride List January 23-29

Community Ride list January 16-23, 2015

It’s that time of the year that we have rides almost every day of the week.  The race season is also starting to gear up.  I put in considerable time this week tracking down many of the races, both on the road and in the dirt.  The real challenge is going to be what race or ride to choose as so many are on the same day. I hope to see you out on your bikes.  Make sure to smile, … Continue reading Community Ride list January 16-23, 2015

Community Ride List Jan 2-9 2016

Happy New Year. My resolution is to make the ride list into an interactive calendar this year.  Life just keeps getting in the way.  So for now, more of the format as it has been.  I’m told from some people it cuts off half way through the list, but if you look at your email there is an option to scroll down.  If that does not work, check out the blog.  I usually post it there as well.  BikePilgrim.com This … Continue reading Community Ride List Jan 2-9 2016

Ride List Dec 26- Jan 2 2016

Happy Holidays. The last ride list of the year.  I was not perfect, but got out over 40 lists in 2015.  Many are not posted here, but sent through email.  Want on the list?  Email Damion@DamionAlexander.com and put “Ride List” in the subject   I DID NOT CONFIRM EVERY TIME, but did get in touch with most of the ride leaders and shops.  You should always verify times before you head out and remember these ride times are when the … Continue reading Ride List Dec 26- Jan 2 2016

In life, we go where we look

Attention: I’m entering dangerous water.  Political rant on guns (But with a bike twist as that is what I do). Many of you saw the video I posted yesterday of me crashing after a small drop into the halfpipe at fantasy Island.  It was not a big jump, and it made me think of Napoloen Dynamite attempting a jump only to catch no air, hit a cinder block and rack himself.  However, that has nothing to do with my point … Continue reading In life, we go where we look
