Since 1991, the KHMTT has taken place on Wednesday evenings in Cherry Creek State Park in early spring.
The weather is a bit unpredictable (this is Colorado!), but that is what makes the KHMTT unique and challenging!
The course begins at the edge of the Cherry Creek Reservoir, winds through the wetlands southeast of the reservoir, and crosses back and forth the small creeks that supply the water for the reservoir.
The KHMTT series is a fundraiser for the Cancer Fitness Institute in memory of Karen Hornbostel, and Bicycle Colorado.
Karen Hornbostel was a four-time masters national road champion who battled metastatic breast cancer for over 13 years, yet courageously pioneered a fitness program for cancer patients that started what is today the Cancer Fitness Institute. Her work is still making a difference today in the quality of the lives of thousands of cancer survivors.
Bicycle Colorado envisions a Colorado where riding a bicycle is always safe and convenient for everyone, where bicycling is the top choice for recreation and everyday trips, and where the benefits of bicycling are experienced and valued by all people in our state.
The COBRAS and the KHMTT are proud to be able to contribute to these worthwhile organizations.

The TBC is a three day USA Cycling sanctioned stage race (time trial, road race, circuit race). You must complete each stage to enter the next.
Qualifiers must all complete the Stage 1 TT to enter the RR, and then complete the RR to enter the Circuit Race. Lowest overall time wins.
I went to this race wearing many hats. Father, Coach, Cheerleader, Photographer, Spectator. The only role I did not play that I would have done differently is athlete.
For the weekend I shot over 7000 photos and have them broken down in the following categories. People and Podiums, Time Trials(Men and Women), Road Race and Circuit race. They are all on facebook, but even if you do not have an account, you should be able to see them.
There is also an Album for El Grupo Youth Cycling. If you want a high resolution image I am giving them for free, but ask you make a donation to El Grupo Youth Cycling (or buy me a new camera or lens – I’m due).
